Spirit was fab, and I have also read 'Hidden World' which was good too.
Here's a synopsis of the book.
When Jessica's parents are tragically killed in a car crash, she goes to live with her grandparents in their big old house in Connecticut. Bullied at her new school because of the injury she suffered in the crash, Jessica finds solace in her favourite fairies and the pictures she loves to draw. One day she suffers bad concussion after falling downstairs at school, and while recovering at home she hears the strange sound of children's voices calling for help. At first Jessica cannot work out where the voices are coming from, but eventually she discovers from a mysterious but kindly old neighbour that they are in fact coming from inside her bedroom wallpaper. Attempting to overcome her own disbelief, Jessica and some friends venture into the world inside her wall where they find an extraordinary land where everyday household objects like spoons and hats take on a life of their own. But there is great danger to be found inside this hidden world, and it is up to Jessica to rescue the strange children whose voices she had heard, before it's too late.

Better yet, here's a link to the page on Amazon.
The Hidden World (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0727859625/qid=1136654286/sr=1-17/ref=sr_1_2_17/026-0355974-4101249)
Maybe it was because I missed out 'The' in the title as the reason you couldn't find it :?

<Does a discreet cough> If you shop through Amazon or Play, can I ask you to kindly click the banners at the bottom, or the link on the shopping pages. It won't make any difference to you, but will make a few pennies towards the running of the site.
Thank you!

I read Charnel House years ago (had to go and look up the name as it's so long ago since I read it) and didn't really enjoy it. That's usually enough to put me off an author which is a bit silly I suppose.

if u like masterton check out....walkers(insane convicts live in the walls of a prison then are able to move out beyond into other peoples walls after a mystic circle that held them in the prison is broken)
manitou, revenge of the manitou then the best of the series-burial
the pariah(a demon attempts to break free in witch trial town of salem)
devils of d-day(about a haunted tank left to rot after the war...)
this is a writer who doesn't skimp on gore but whose books are often laced with little bits of humour too.not bad-but not in the same league as koontz or king...

It looks like my library might have The Hidden World, so I'll look next time I go.
Has anyone read Innocent Blood? I was a little disappointed...
Don't read this if you want to read the book:
His bomb descriptions were fairly well written, they were graphic and shocking, without being too gory.
I figured out pretty quickly that Astrid was a ghost, but I couldn't understand why he had such physical contact with her, nor did I work out what the final connections were. Nor could I understand why the psychic was a spirit.
In fact, having spirits able to provide so much physical contact made the story more unbelieveable. Was that really the only way he could escape in the van?
Ooh, ooh, how did you do that? That's so clever!

I think I read one of his ages ago. It was about some evil spirits living in WWII tanks. I thought it was a bit daft, mind you I think I did read it all the way through. I haven't read any of his others - I think that one put me off a bit, but it might just have been one of his worse ones.

I really liked Spirit, Devil in Grey and The Hidden World, and had mixed views on Innocent Blood. Any others that I've tried, I haven't been able to get into. Another author with mixed writing, it appears.

Must finished Devil in Grey and I loved it! I now have loads of his books on my wish list, and even bought one on eBay (can't remember which though). I didn't even notice that the middle was slightly disjointed, I think I was enjoying the book so much I over looked it
He seems very much like my kind of author - dark, clever and (as far as I can tell) factually acurate. Looking forward to reading more of his work (and I'm not allowing myself to be put off by some of your negative comments)
