The way that we deal with this issue has changed a few times. Basically, we feel that we are a discussion forum, where people come together to discuss their love of books.. we're not here to offer free promotion to authors/publishers.
We do, however, have a very good relationship with various authors and publishers, which is usually a two-way partnership, and this is something we're keen to continue with.
I have brought back the 'Author Promotion (http://bookclubforum.co.uk/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=32)' section, because we still do get new authors come along to post about their book, and I do feel a little mean just removing it.
We have regular members here who are also authors, and they may mention their book within general discussions, which is fine. The main promotion, however, should be kept to correct section.
