Im currently trying to write a list of all the books Ive read that Ive really enjoyed, and I vaguely remember reading a trilogy about 5 years ago that was really good. Unfortunately I can't remember the name and I was wondering if anyone could help me...
It was a fantasy trilogy aimed at young adults and I have a feeling that the name of the trilogy had 'lightning' or something similar in it. The books were about two twins who could talk to each other telepathically and had some special purpose. The trilogy started off in the twins home village but something happened (maybe the village burned down??) and they left on a quest to stop a villain of some sort. On the way they picked up a sort of dog that the boy was particularly fond of - the dog had some special power (which I can't remember). Apart from that I remember very little, except that the boy died in the end to save the world.
I know that this is very vague, but it was a really awesome trilogy so I hope that someone might be able to help me out!
