Does anyone watch The Hills on MTV?

I started watching the series and thought 'oh, so this is the way they are filming American soaps/series these days - reality style. It's quite fresh and new'

And even though it's not the kind of thing I would normally watch, I ended up watching two episodes and was hooked.

And now I've found out that the characters in it are actually real life people - Lauren Conrad IS Lauren Conrad - and that it's actually reality tv! They expect me to believe that everything that happens in the programme is 100% happening.

My opinion now is that it's just another example of American television creating circumstances and passing it off as reality.

Some of it has to be real, but what do you think about this?

I don't really have anything nice to say about The Hills, even though I have been known to sit through an entire episode. It's simply a spin-off of Laguna Beach, as it follows Lauren's move to L.A. and her attempt to break into the fashion industry. It's boring rich kids and their boring lives, and after watching it for a while, I have completely lost interest.

What bothers me the most is that these people have incredibly uninteresting lives and have nothing to offer society, and yet they have become celebrities in their own rights. American tabloids feature Lauren and Heidi on their covers, as if they are actually talented...I mean, at least actresses and singers are good at something. I've never really liked reality TV, and this is reality TV at its worst.

I don't think I've ever seen a full episode of The Hills although I did see a few of Laguna Beach.

The show (both Laguna Beach and The Hills), although real in some respects, is all fake. Well not all fake, but apparently some 'scenes' are redone and scripted in order to make better TV which in my opinion makes it even worse than normal reality television.

I watch the series because it makes me laugh. Don't they realise that whatever they say on the programme the others are going to see it when they air the show!!!

Most of it is fake cause they don't seem to be surprised when things happen!

Yeah and Lauren should be able to know what really happened with the Heidi situation :( poor Heidi, and stop being nasty to her! Forgive Heidi, it's not her fault!
