I meant to post this on Tuesday, but forgot.

Did anyone see David Essex on The One Show, BBC1 Monday (this week)? I didnt recognise him, he has not aged well. Only his voice convinced us that it was him!!

I didn't see it, but he was always so gorgeous. What about those eyes!! Had they changed??

The eyes have lost their gleam I am afraid. He just looked like any other 62 year old man with grey hair. Totally nondescript.

:blush: How sad.... used have posters of him plastered all over my bedroom wall when I was a teenager and had all his records.

I guess we are all being a wee bitty selfish here. How was he in himself? Was he happy, healthy, still humourous happy with his life??

You can watch a video of him here (http://search.bbc.co.uk/cgi-bin/search/results.pl?q=david+essex&go.x=0&go.y=0&go=go&uri=%2Fweather%2F5day.shtml%3Fid%3D3991) - top right-hand side.

He sounds fine and I think he still looks okay - a bit older and greyer but hey, it happens to us all eventually! :D

I thought he looked well. If you hadn't known what a beautiful young man he was, then you'd think he was a nicer looking older man.

He still has that sexy mouth from what I could see under the facial foliage

And yes, I was a big fan too. I touched the leg of 'that' white suit when I saw him as a kid - it was the first live show I ever went to.

V - I too saw him live at Sutton Granada in 1970 something - my sister got slung out for trying to climb on the stage trying to touch the whilte suit!!

Remember I dragged hubby (before we were married) along to see him in concert back in the late 70's early 80's. Was probably bored but I loved it/him;)

Does anyone remember him in a drama series based on or around a canal? I think he lived on a barge or house boat or something. I liked it at the time, but the critics downed it and so I think they only did the one series.

I remember that! I'm sure there was a dark haired Scottish girl in it with him too!

It was called 'The River'! Katy Murphy was the Scottish lass! (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096691/)

Yeah...me too! But we appreciate older men...actually I always did prefer older as in a decade or two older than me. Never been one for younger males.
He still looks fab! Official!

Ahh! janet. You star! I will read about it properly later as we're off out soon. That's it...The River.
Thanks Janet (hugs)

All my mates were into American 'boys' like Donny Osmond or David Cassidy.

Odd how I like them younger now :blush:

Well most men over forty are one or more of the following:

* Lovely but married/in a long term relationship
* Gay
* Bitter about women from a recent divorce
* looking for somebody to look after them
* Have let themselves go. Big time
* Bossy, wanting to tell me how to live my life
* A total player

Or you can find somebody lovely and then find out that he 'has the children every weekend'!!!!!!

So, I'm sure you can see my problem. Plus I bet you can add every man you know into at least one of those categories :mrgreen:

Yes...but this isn't a perfect world. I found my man when I was 49 and he was 45. It's not perfect, but it's great. I daresay men think pretty much the same about us. Anyway, sounds like you are just a spring chicken...wait till you are old like me!

As someone who's just about thirty-two, I can vouch for all of the above. Plus, I have the added disadvantage of living in Dundee, where men think it's masculine to cultivate a beer belly, disrespect women and get drunk a lot. In other words, I live in Chavtown. So you can see my problem.

I've been called picky. I call it having standards. And even at my age it's hard finding a straight man without kids. *sigh*

It's all very well saying "Your time will come," but no, there's no way of knowing that. Some people stay single forever and it looks as if I could be one of those.

/whinge off. :lol:

Many women put off getting married these days until they have a career sorted etc. By definition, that means there must be some men out there too.But I know what you mean, but thirty two is no age. I started out on the singles scene again when I was thirty six and had no problems finding someone else, but it depends on what you are looking for. Come to Aberdeen...with two uni's here there are lots of great folk, and the people up here are really nice...lol I would say that wouldn't I? I'm sure your time will come, but don't be too picky...you might end up missing out on a gem! Book covers and all that...;)
