Has anyone discovered the wonders of Iceland?? Good value and excellent quality. The fish is really good. For instance whilst Tesco and Sainsbury's white fish fillets (cod, haddock, etc) they only offer pieces of fillet, at Iceland, you get 4 whole fillets for £4.00, salmon large portions of fillet (obviously) at 4 for £5. Then they do 2 prepared sole fillets ready for grilling, for £2.00 All absolutely great quality. Last autumn I got a huge carton of mixed berry fruits, red currant, black currants, blackberries, rasperries - frozen, for £2.00 !!!! How about that? I only finished them the day before yesterday. on the chilled counter, the other day, I bought 2 500g packs of beefsteak chunks - large ones -for £3.00.

I would thoroughly recommend Iceland, not for your whole food shop, but certainly its worth popping in there now and then. You will be pleasantly surprised.

Iceland is a great shop. Good value and good food.

It's not very often I shop there but I do when I want to stock up the freezer cheaply.

That sounds good for instant smoothies.

Yes, Lidl's great. They have lots of continental stuff that you don't see in the big chains, and usually at attractive prices too - that really appeals to the sauerkraut-munching Teuton in me :). In fact, most of the so-called "budget" chains are worth a look - you can often come out with some real bargains (obviously, I exclude "Ghetto" from that statement ....)

I love being able to get some of the food I used to have when we lived in Germany.

I was going to go to Lidl tonight, but had to get home because my car had a warning light go on. I plan on going tomorrow though, as everyone at work raves about it.
