Dang... :cry2:

Heath Ledger (http://www.smh.com.au/news/people/heath-ledger-dead/2008/01/23/1201024937592.html) has died - such a promising young actor. :(

Yeah, I just heard about it too. It's one of those things that seems to come out of the blue. He was only 28, and with such a young daughter. So much talent gone to waste...

Terrible shame when those put on a pedestal feel they have nothing to live for.

His poor daughter :(

I just heard this. I understand he was just back from London. Anyone over there know why?

Very sad, such a talented young actor.

I'm shocked. And like many of you, the first thought was of his adorable little girl. It's just such a terrible thing to happen. For anyone, of course, but even more so when it's someone who seemingly has no problems, and who's life is fine. I mean, and I don't want to be cruel, but a similar news of Britney wouldn't have shocked anyone, really, would it?

And I know, everyone has problems. Trust me, I know that maybe better than many. But really, it was so very unexpected. But then again, accidents usually are.

My heart goes out for his family. It's devastating.

I've just read of this very sad death, whether he was or wasn't a drug
user, it's his poor mum and dad and more importantly his little daughter,
who'll never know her dad, I feel for.

It appears that both proscription and nonprescription tablets were found by him, by a housekeeper.

It's horrible, I really hope it was terrible, terrible accident, know doubt the scum-bag rags will make a meal of it, like I said it's his immediate family I feel for. God, 28, only a boy really.

I caught a mention of his name on the news last night as I was flicking through the channels but didn't stay on the channel long enough to hear what it was about, so I only found out about it this morning. Such a shame! His poor daughter!

This is such a shame, made worse with the fact that a little girl has lost her father when he was just 28. He really was a talented and promising young actor.

He was making a film. The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, directed by Terry Gilliam.

that's not all apparently I read that he was disturbed about his part of playing the joker in the new batman movie and couldn't sleep so he got some pills so that may have something to do with the reason why he took his own life.

my mum says it's a waste of life, she thought he was "Hot" and he's as you all said a young actor and a father that sadly won't see his little girl grow up.:cry2:

I don't think they have said it is suicide.....The last I heard they were thinking it may have been an accidential overdose.

Jack Nicholson said on the TV last night that he had taken these particular sleeping tablets and that they were very very strong.

I am a little irritated how some people thing is was a "waste of talent" and that he "took his own life". He apparently was ill, and on top of having anxiety and not being able to sleep hardly at all, he got desperate for a little sleep and took some sleeping pills to try and get some rest. Sadly it sounds like the stress along with the perscription pills he took, and his aniexty and his illness all took it its toll on him. Sounds like it was an accident. And its unfortunate!

I didn't know him, nor much of his work. SOunds like he was VERY dedicated to his work, and wasn't much for the party scene. He was a doting father, and wonderful family man.

my 2 cents...

I agree Sarah. He had only been getting about 2 hours sleep a night and when you get that tired and that desperate for sleep plus anxiety and illness on top of it all, it would be very easy to make a mistake in how many pills you took. It was not as if there were empty pill bottles beside him or anywhere else.

I agree! I don't take ANY medication for this very reason. This hit home for me big time, because they said he was having trouble sleeping because of the Batman movie and the role he played. I myself a few weeks ago had the same problem with sleeping. Granted I didn't star in a movie, but I would fall asleep but wouldn't sleep. There would be so many conversations going on it my head that it was like I didn't sleep at all! I would wake up at Noon and not feel as I even slept 5mins. I got desperate but my vow to not take meds prevented me from prolly having the same accident he did. It wasn't "taking his own life" as much as it was a VERY bad accident. IF it were sucide, he would have more than likely left a note, NOT scheduled a massage for that day, nor set up a meeting for that very day about another movie.

I think regardless of how he died, it's still such a waste of talent and a young life (irrespective of the fact that he was an actor, in the spotlight). Some people just find it impossible to say anything nice, or extend any compassion.
