Your three choices for the February Poll are as follows:

Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman:
Under the streets of London there is a world of which most people could never dream. When Richard Mayhew accidentally stumbles on this hidden city of monsters, saints, murderers and angels, he is catapulted from a safe and predictable world into one that is eerily familiar yet utterly bizarre.

Watership Down by Richard Adams:
Fiver could sense danger - something terrible was going to happen to the warren. His brother Hazel could sense it too. They had to leave the warren, and they had to persuade the other rabbits to join them. And so a band of rabbits begin a long and perilous journey.

The House on the Strand by Daphne du Maurier:
Dick Young is lent a house in Cornwall by his friend Professor Magnus Lane. During his stay he agrees to serve as a guinea pig for a new drug that Magnus has discovered in his biochemical researches. The effect of this drug is to transport Dick from the house at Kilmarth to the Cornwall of the 14th century. There, in the manor of Tywardreath, the domain of Sir Henry Champernoune, he witnesses intrigue, adultery and murder. As his time travelling increases, Dick resents more and more the days he must spend in the modern world, longing ever more fervently to get back into his world of centuries before ...

The poll will close on the evening of Friday 25 January to give everyone plenty of time to get hold of the winning book.

Cast your votes, please!

They all sound great but I've gone for Daphne's The House on the Strand.

Kell, you need to change the date. ;)
As for the books.. I've just read Neverwhere, so can join in a little with that one. The House On The Strand sounds interesting.. but I think I'd like to read Watership Down, and maybe even share it with Beth. Does anyone know what sort of age group it's actually aimed at?

I'm a numpty! Date now changed. The funny thing is, I was definitely THINKING January, because I ALMOST accidentally put February!

Watership Down is, I think, one of those books that spans all age-groups. It's suitable for younger readers, but also has a lot of appeal for adult readers.

Unless you're me and got so freaked out by the film that you can't bring yourself to read the book.

I've read and loved Neverwhere, so I'm tempted to vote for that one, but I also quite fancy the du Maurier! Oh, the dilema!

Thanks Kell.. I've actually just ordered Watership Down from Green Met - I'll see if Beth is interested. :)

Watership Down made me cry so the book will do the same no doubt.

Neverwhere's just been released unabridged on audio for the first time. Apparently with the original text restored, though I'm not sure quite what that means. I've never read anything by Neil Gaiman, but funnily, the cover of the audio attracts me.

Kell - Should the closing date be Friday 25th January not February?

Dang, what a hard choice! I've read both Watership Down and Neverwhere, so I'll have to go with The House on the Strand, methinks! :)

Voted for DdM (can't beat her and I've not read this one)

I saw 'Neverwhere' when it was on TV - brilliant series

And, oddly, I bought Watership Down this week as I've always intended to read it but never did. Then a student nicked it. Doh!

Great choice this month

Unfortunately I've read 'Neverwhere' and 'Watership Down' but given the option, and ignoring our Daph, I'll vote for 'Neverwhere' again! :sarcastic:
