I don't think it is as good as last year's. There's no-one who really stands out from the beginning, like Bonnie Langford did last time. Still, it's early days. :)

It's all I can do not to sign up for ice skating lessons - something I've always wanted to do but the thought of breaking bones puts me off.

Bonnie was series one wasn't she?
Kyran was last year/time
I thought Suzanne Shaw was pretty good and so was that Fountain boy.
Loads of Andy Peters though

I can't remember which series Bonnie was in, so you're probably right!

Michael Underwood's broke his ankle and will be out of the contest now.
Mia
24th January 2008, 19:54
Really? I didn't know that - thanks for the gossip!
To be honest, this series isn't really doing it for me. It's like Strictly Come Dancing revisited, with Aggie in the role of Kate Garraway, i.e. rubbish person goes through undeservedly each week, meaning someone who doesn't deserve to go gets the push. *Sigh*
I guess my favourites are Suzanne Shaw and... I don't even know his name - I think he's from Hollyoaks. He's very cocky though.

Is he out completely? Oh that is so bad!

I can't believe he hurt himself. Apparently he did it when trying to stop, he should have kept going into the wall!

Yay! Aggie's out.
Jason... one word for him. EVIL. :D :devcat:

It was funny after the skate-off when he said he wished he could get rid of both of them! They were both appalling (and Greg Rusedski was too).
Chris Fountain is very good, and Suzanne Shaw is almost as good. The new girl Zaraah is good too.

Did anyone see him on Harry Hill's TV Burp on Saturday?! At least he has a sense of humour!

Yeah, I saw that! He went up in my estimation for his ability to not take himself too seriously.

Yeah, I know. Evil man. I can't say I liked either of them either, but I wouldn't be as harsh as that.
And I thought Simon Cowell was bad on The X Factor...

I love Dancing on Ice.
I really want Chris & Frankie to win.
Their performance to Time Warp was absolutely fantastic.
I also loved Michael it's a real shame he broke his ankle.
That Zaraah is really good considering she's only been with Fred for a few weeks.
I kind of liked Aggie but it was more Sergey her partner I liked

I love it too! It got me into trouble last Sunday as we don't watch TV during dinner. MY OH was not impressed that I wanted it on - we argued and I turned it off and then wouldn't speak to him during the meal  .

It's going to be a tough finale between Suzanne and Chris. I think that Chris is going to win though
Janet

But overall she's a better skater than Linda was. :)
I'd like Suzanne to win. I do like Chris, but he seems to be more for speed and skills than dancing - which is a large element of what's required.

Suzanne for me too -I'm impressed at her courage and determination and flair. Chris was an Ice Hockey player which is a distinct advantage I think

Not paticulary.
The skates are very different because if you remember when it first stated he had problems with the toe picks.
Plus the sports are completely different the only similarity is that they're both on ice.
Chris and Frankie to win all the way for me!
Janet
27th February 2008, 18:37
Surely already having the ability to balance on the ice must be an advantage to him though?
I like Chris, and he's definitely fast, but I think Suzanne dances better, which is what it's all about really. :)
OnyxAngel
27th February 2008, 20:50
True.
I found her annoying on Sunday because she beat Chris on the leaderboards when she hardly did anything.
She moved her upper body but there was hardly any movement in her feet so basically she was just skating round.
Ok sorry about that rant over
lovesreading06
27th February 2008, 21:20
Wonder if Zaarh will refuse to do what she asked for this sunday.
Chris he funny. I think Suzanne will win it. Was that the one that put her feet around the partner neck?

I thought she did lots of difficult dance steps. She definitely deserved to be top and I hope she wins because she's talented and daring. No-one else has had the guts (or the stupidity?) to try the head-banger. And the men have it easier in my opinion because they don't even have to try anything like that! It's the women who get hoisted up 8 feet into the air/nearly have their brains bashed out on the ice/generally get thrown around. I admire her bravery.
And let's hope Greg gets the push this week. I'm sick of the sympathy votes he keeps getting that keep him in. Either that, or they're voting for his partner Kristina.

Now I disagree about it being easier for the men.
Surely it's harder for the men because they're the one's who have to lift the partners and keep their balance, the girls just have to be lifted up.
Personally I think Chris did much better last week.
Suzanne's jumps were really flimsy and pathetic, Chris however did an axel and was the first celeb on that programme to do so.
Surely that's an acheivement?
I agree about Greg 100% he should have gone last week not Linda.
Mia
29th February 2008, 19:44
Chris doing the axel was an achievement - I thought it was very good. But I still think that Suzanne was better overall!
Yes, the men have to be strong enough to lift, and keep their balance, but it's the women that do all of the "acrobatic" stuff. They get flung into the air, do somersaults down their partners, zip through their legs, turn upside down and get held 8 feet up in the air as they whiz round the ice! When did you see a man do any of that? Also, a man will never have to attempt the headbanger! I think we'll have to agree to disagree on the more difficult for men/women thing! I really do think that the women have it tougher.
(I think the same with ballroom dancing too. I remember the saying, "Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did, but backwards and in high heels".)

Suzanne's chipped a bone in her ankle and may have to pull out (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7273149.stm). :( The physio will give her the go ahead... or not... just before tomorrow's show.

I don't follow very closely, but it would be a shame for someone to have to drop out at this late stage.

Yeah she also cut Matt's eye, almost took his eye out apparently.
It would be a shame if she left because I do like her just prefer Chris.

Zaarh will go out next week but i wonder who win. I don't mind as long as it not Zaarh.
See when Greig did that jump over Christaine. i thought Christaine was brave to let Greig do that.

I'm glad that Greg and Kristina are gone- at long last, they should've been out long before Aggy was, even!

I'm glad Greg and Kristina are out.
I don't think Zaarah should've been in the skate off she was brilliant!
To be honest after Greg, the weakest was Suzanne obviously, because of her ankle.

She was brave to be on the ice with a chiped bone. Her partner was lucky that he didn't go blind.
OnyxAngel
5th March 2008, 17:20
I agree.
That's why obviously she was the 2nd weakest in my opinion.
Jason didn't have to be so mean though
Tiger

Noooo! I can't believe that Gareth is gone. Zaarah should've been out, not him!

Tiger Zaarh has being in so many skates off. She should of been out
I did like her at first but that time when there were doing jumps she didn't even do a jump and i just felt she should of been chucked out then.
OnyxAngel
10th March 2008, 19:57
Aww poor Gareth.
I couldn't choose.
I'm just glad Chris is in the final!
Come on Chris!
Mia
10th March 2008, 19:58
I was pleased with last night's result. I thought Zaraah really went for it and did a better routine than Gareth. I think the three best skaters are in the final, which is a relief because I had a horrible feeling that someone like Greg was going to make it through due to public popularity.
I want either Chris or Suzanne to win - they are both very good. I really wouldn't mind which one, but if I had to choose I would maybe pick Suzanne for her sheer determination and the graceful way she skates.
Icecream
11th March 2008, 21:50
I think Zaraah skated much better than Gareth last night, although I liked both of them. She had more style/flair and deserves to be in. I am finsing it difficult to follow properly though, as these things are always on when I am putting Katie in bed.
Mia
16th March 2008, 21:06
Well, the final has finished so I guess I can reveal the result...
Suzanne won! :e010::clapping:
She thoroughly deserved it. I didn't think I minded whether Chris or Suzanne won, but her skating was so much better than his tonight. She was so graceful and elegant, and she did the headbanger but with a twisty thing to make it even more difficult as well! Well done Suzanne! :D
OnyxAngel
16th March 2008, 21:06
I think Chris should have won but I'm glad somebody good won.
I do not think it was fair that Chris got 4.5 twice when he skated and flew brillantly.
I'm disappointed but at least he got that far
lovesreading06
16th March 2008, 21:08
I think he derseved at 5.0 at least. I glad Suzanne won it after tonight show she derseved it.
Angel
16th March 2008, 23:12
Suzanne was definately the better skater tonight. I was really touched to see 2 of the judges moved to tears of emotion with the sheer beauty of her dancing
lovesreading06
16th March 2008, 23:21
6.0 from all of them and both times that is so amazing.
Janet
17th March 2008, 15:43
Her flying made me cry too!
I didn't mind whether she or Chris won - they'd both been very good but I think she was marginally better on the night.
lovesreading06
17th March 2008, 16:55
Jason he seemed to be crying the second time when she got 6.0. Her son he was crying and he didn't look that old.
