Chat Room

This is being trialled at the moment. We have our own room on an irc server, thanks to beef. There are 2 ways to join:

1) If you already use irc, or wish to download an irc client to use, beef has provided some instructions here (http://bookclubforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=3761&page=4) (post 37).

2) There is a java based chat facility - the link is in the top right of the navigation bars, or you can access it here (http://bookclubforum.co.uk/forum/vbjirc/vbjirc.php). You need to be registered, logged in, and have more than 10 posts.. it will then automatically take your username, and log you in to the correct server and room.

If you have any problems using it, or queries, please use this thread (http://bookclubforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=3761).

Chat times... in the future, we may schedule some specific chats. For the time being, however, you will need to arrange amongst yourselves when to use the chat room.

Problems whilst in chat... if a user is causing problems, please contact one of us by PM, and or speak to beef. users can be kicked off and/or banned if necessary.

I think I should make it clear that the chat room is, by it's nature, not so much under our control. If users are causing major proplems, they can be removed, but I can't be responsible for general behaviour, such as the language used etc. I would ask members to be responsible and respectful when using the chat facility. but obviously we can't always be there to moderate.

Just like to add to this IRC is open and has many different people from all walks of life, if your going to lecture someone about their lifestyle and provide no facts behind the ideas your trying to put accross people may take offence. Basically if your thin skinned please dont come into irc (or anywhere else for that matter) and spout off at people, its going to end badly!

beef, you've obviously had a disagreement with someone from here, and I'd appreciate it if it was kept off the forum. If the chat room is going to cause difficulties, I would rather remove it.

It iskept off the forums im just saying if you are thin skinned dont insult people :)

It was prompted by a PM I had, but I thought it was something that was worth saying to all. Mine was a general comment, yours is obviously aimed at someone.
