I also hope this is the correct place to ask.
Basically, I've lost an amazing book but I can't remember the name. It's pretty old and I found it in my parents book collection and now it's just.. gone!
It's a fiction book about two Jewish twins who had been seperated after the war. One is a wealthy women who lives in Paris [I think] and the other is a famous circus/lion tamer who at the time was performing in Germany. Anyway, the wealthy twin has these mad rages and noone can understand why.
The lion tamer twin works wonders with a lion using coloured ribbons [along those lines anyway]. She is married/has a lover. Kills a Jewish dwarf.
The two sisters finally meet and both end up dead. One killed by a lion and I'm not too sure about the other. Before they died they/we realise that while in a concentration camp, Josef Mengele used them for colour experiments and while one twin saw the colours the other had to guess what the other twin was seeing.. if you catch my drift. One twin flourised and the other was left to grow weak due to not performing well. Both think the other one is dead.
That's as much as I can remember. Anyone know the name of the book? I've been searching for SO long now trying to find it, both in my house and online.
