Well, I don't keep a list...but I bought the following three books at 99c each so I guess they are next on the list

Mouth to Mouth by Michael Kimball
Jumping to Conclusions by Christina Jones and
The Dead Zone by Stephen King

.................not my usual cup of tea..... :)

Kell
26th October 2005, 17:18
I'll be anxiously awaiting the outcome of The Dead Zone as it's a King I've not read yet...

Maureen
26th October 2005, 17:21
I started it yesterday night. So far so good...........

I'll be anxiously awaiting the outcome of The Dead Zone as it's a King I've not read yet...

....it's finished.....and it is very very good! I enjoyed it tremendously. I am afraid to say much more 'cause I do not want to give much away....but I'll try to write up a tiny review later.

Kell

Have you watched the TV series at all? I saw a few episodes here & there & it looked pretty good. I've never seen the movie yet though - I always seem to miss it when it's on!

Maureen
1st November 2005, 09:12
I did not even know that it was a TV series or a movie. Will try to watch the movie one day.

Kell
1st November 2005, 13:15
I think the film stars Christopher Walken (if I remember correctly). The TV show stars Anthony Michael Hall (of Wierd Science & The Breakfast Club).

Maureen
1st November 2005, 13:19
Great...now I have an idea for a movie for a cosy night in.....I'm still waiting for the cold weather - this sounds nice while having a mug of coffee .........all snuggled up under a blanket

Kell
1st November 2005, 17:33
Well, if you fancy finding out a bit ore about the film before you watch it, you can check it our here http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt0085407/ on IMDB. Enjoy!

Maureen

Hey Thanks!! You know way back I used to hate Martin Sheen/Charlie Sheen. Now I've watched Charlie in a couple of comedies and have grown to like him. I just love his two and a half men! :D

Kell
1st November 2005, 19:04
Isn't it hilarious?! I was the same, but I love him when he's being funny - I adored Hot Shots & Hot Shots Part Deux - I laughed my fluffy bunny slippers off!

Maureen
1st November 2005, 19:27
...Was still lukewarm to him in Hot shots/Hot shots part deux. Started warming up to him watching Spin City.....

Kell
1st November 2005, 20:05
See, that's where I disagree - Spin City just wasn't the same without Michael J Fox in it - that's when I stopped watching really & only caught a few episodes every now & then.

Maureen
1st November 2005, 20:15
Nah...don't agree. There is something about MJF that rubs me the wrong way! Don't know exactly what, but he's not a fave of mine. And for this series, I really do think CS is funnier.

Maureen
7th November 2005, 19:10
Finished Jumping to Conclusions....but I will not bother with a review as it is too "airy fairy" for most people. I enjoyed it though - it is one of those fill in the blanks books - (between food courses sometimes you have some bread?....)

Kell
8th November 2005, 09:03
In what way is it "airy fairy"? You've got my interest now - LOL!

Maureen
8th November 2005, 11:41
Did you ever read Fiona Walker? It is those types of books - shy girl meets a bad reputation but kind hearted guy, they dilly dally all book long but finally end up together and live happily ever after kind of story - with ups and downs and battling against the odds thrown in for good measure.(Show jumping guy - takes part in competitions.....was going to get seriously wounded a couple of times) You do not have to think at all and can finish it in a day!!
One nice thing about this story is that she opened a book shop and had quite a few good ideas...................

Maureen
8th November 2005, 11:42
I just realised that I still wrote some sort of review after all!!!

Kell
8th November 2005, 19:14
I've never read any Fiona Walker, but I'm going to have to keep an eye out for her stuff now!

Maureen
8th November 2005, 21:07
Started "Mouth to Mouth" by Micheal Kimball. I am in the first chapter and can feel that someone is going to die soon............

Kell
8th November 2005, 21:34
Is that a feeling of dread or of excitement, then? I know it depends on the book, but I always like to know these things...

Maureen
8th November 2005, 21:38
Well I am excited....but do not know how and who is going to die....so it is a bit excitment filled with dread in a nice way(is that at all possible ?)

Kell
8th November 2005, 21:40
I think I know what you mean - you don't think it's going to be a character you've grown to like & it'll be something interesting & want to know the details!

Maureen
8th November 2005, 21:48
Yep - something like that.

Kell
8th November 2005, 21:50
LOL - I think we understand each other pretty well then :).

I often feel like that when reading a really good thriller - almost like I'm willing someone to get bumped off - not because I don't like them, but because I know it'll make the plot un-put-downable!

Maureen
8th November 2005, 21:55
Yes I know :jump: aren't we macabre?

Maureen
8th November 2005, 22:03
I'm going to :reading: in  for a while...get to know more about this plot...........

Kell
8th November 2005, 22:06
I'm off to read a bit more of The Time Traveler's Wife in bed too while Dale finished his computer game - I love his game nights as it means I have peace & quiet to read - LOL!

Maureen
9th November 2005, 19:25
hmmmmm. My to read corner is completely bare. Have to re-stock or I will drive everyone nuts.

Michelle
9th November 2005, 19:38
Well there's a parcel on it's way for you! :D

Maureen
13th November 2005, 19:07
Well there's a parcel on it's way for you!

Yippee.....can't wait! I get so excited when I am waiting for a book![/quote]

Maureen
13th November 2005, 19:10
Started "Mouth to Mouth" by Micheal Kimball. I am in the first chapter and can feel that someone is going to die soon............

I am now a bit more than half way through, knee deep in bodies....and still counting. (Puts Rambo to shame!) You know who the killer is....the suspense is how he is going to kill the next victim....
I am quite enjoying it though........

Maureen
16th November 2005, 15:56
As my list is bare at the moment - but will have some new titles soon - I decided to explore my bookcase...and see what pops out......................I was rewarded with Robin Cook's Acceptable Risk.

Any one read that? what do you think?

Maureen
19th November 2005, 09:12
Hey I got it. I got it.....yabba dabba doooo!!!! :woohoo: :jump:
:tyou: Micha
 I'm so excited!!!

It's the Time traveller's wife...... :hyper:

Michelle
19th November 2005, 09:23
Cool.. now start :reading: , and get :typing: !

Maureen
19th November 2005, 13:57
Prob will start on it tomorrow sometime....have the last few pages of Acceptable risk to finish!

Maureen
21st November 2005, 17:58
Have started The Time Traveler's wife.......and am enjoying it. Next after that is Gerald's game - thanks to Kell.

Kell
21st November 2005, 18:56
I'm just glad he finally got there in the end - I'll bet he's been off having adventures of his own - LOL!

Maureen
21st November 2005, 20:05
Hey Kell - I bet it was just a game to Gerald! :D

Kell
21st November 2005, 21:50

Maureen
2nd December 2005, 08:33
I am halfway through Gerald's game.....

Kell
2nd December 2005, 09:53
What do you think of it so far, then?

Maureen
2nd December 2005, 10:09
The dog thing is rather gruesome....more so because it could really happen...and the self relevation of the wife is interesting...(the thing with the glass of water had me keeping my fingers crossed), but I am waiting for something more to happen.......I hope she comes out of the blasted room soon.

Kell
2nd December 2005, 12:24
I was constantly impressed by her ingenuity - I think King was perhaps testing himself with this one.

Have you read Dolores Clayborne at all? It has veiled references to Gerald's Game in it...

Maureen
2nd December 2005, 12:30
nope I haven't. Is it a Stephen King one as well?

Kell
2nd December 2005, 12:32
Yes it is - it was made into a movie starring Kathy Bates & Jenifer Jason Leigh. Not bad, but not as good as the book. It also involves something happenning during that fateful eclipse...

Michelle
2nd December 2005, 12:39
Ah yes.. Dolores Clayborne was a good one. :)

Maureen, are you becoming a King fan?

Maureen
2nd December 2005, 16:00
Don't know yet...have only read a book and a half so far.....much depends how this one turns out I expect....

Maureen
8th December 2005, 20:47
Have finished my second King book, and have not yet made up my mind fully about this author that everyone seems to like so much.

Maureen
8th December 2005, 21:39
Have now started Bad Mother's Handbook.

Maureen
5th January 2006, 19:25
......and finished it
and started The Dark Side of the Sun (Terry Pratchett)
.........and finished it
and started Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus (John Gray)

Michelle
5th January 2006, 19:27
I know you weren't keen on Pratchett, but how was BMH?

Maureen
5th January 2006, 19:54
I enjoyed it. It was an easy to read book, written with a sense of humor. I believe I did post some comments about it under reviews.

Maureen
19th January 2006, 19:44

I have entombed in my 'to read' pile also Maureen. First time I've come across this author but she has some great reviews.

I love her books, a little bit of advice is that she has the same 3 main characters throughout her books, I don't think it makes much of a difference to the story, but just so you know they have a little history

Maureen
19th January 2006, 20:45
Waiting to be read in no particular order are:

I have entombed in my 'to read' pile also Maureen. First time I've come across this author but she has some great reviews.

Yes that's why I bought it. But I don't think it's the first one...might not start reading it yet, perhaps I'll buy the earlier books first.

Tash
19th January 2006, 20:50
Ahh, that's a very good point. Does anyone know her order of books so that I can get them right also?

Inanna
20th January 2006, 09:09

Inanna
20th January 2006, 18:20
Anyone has the first two in sequence for sale?

Unfortunately not, though I do recall the secondhand bookshop near me having them, or at least one of them in, I think :?

Kell
20th January 2006, 18:44
They're both available on Green Metropolis at the moment if you're quick, Mau!

Michelle
20th January 2006, 18:50
They don't post out of the UK :(

Maureen
20th January 2006, 21:47
They don't post out of the UK :(

:badmood: :hissyfit: :tantrum:

I wish they would give a good reason why not!

Kell
20th January 2006, 21:52
No way! I didn't realise that - what a shame! Tell you what, Mau - if you want to forward the money to me via paypal, I can always order them for you & send them on if you like. It's no problem. :)

Maureen
20th January 2006, 22:21
Oh Kell you are absolutely the best. Let me have a look at the second hand book store here tomorrow first, and if you're sure it won't be a prob, I'll let you know.

 :friends2: :jump:

Kell
20th January 2006, 22:51
No problems, my friend - anything for a buddy in need!

Inanna
20th January 2006, 23:20
No way! I didn't realise that - what a shame! Tell you what, Mau - if you want to forward the money to me via paypal, I can always order them for you & send them on if you like. It's no problem. :)

Either that or I can check the second-hand bookstore near me, the books there usually sell for £1-£2 each and I know she had quite a few Linda Fairstein books in

Michelle
21st January 2006, 00:47
Erm Mau.. I told you before that I would get things from GM and send on to you. But if you don;t need me anymore... :( (I'm joking, of course!) But.. see if Inanna can find them firts.. would be cheaper.

Michelle
21st January 2006, 00:48
They don't post out of the UK :(

:badmood: :hissyfit: :tantrum:

I wish they would give a good reason why not!

They explain on the website that they pay the owner £3 per book, and the owner had=s to pay postage out of that. Sending out of the UK is obviously going to cost more postage.

Maureen
21st January 2006, 09:44
Oh guys I love you all! (And I might not have to move To UK after all, just visit you all from time to time with lots of Gozitan honey, and Maltese bread for Michelle as well of course!)

Maureen
24th January 2006, 19:53
Oh..I forgot that I bought "The Growing pains of Adrian Mole" I read "The Cappuchino years" a while back, and enjoyed it. So that's on the list as well.

Maureen
25th January 2006, 20:07
I finished Trace. (so there!! ;-)))

I was wondering what to read next, started leafing through Adrian's pains, and before I know it I am already in May. April went by vvvvvvvvvery fast! And I'm quite hooked, what with mum's knickers on the floor, and Dad's lover, a Janet Reger slip and sexual frustration. I think this is going to be hilarious! Anyone read any of these books?

Kell
25th January 2006, 21:02
I've not read Adrian Mole & the Weapons of Mass Destruction, but I loved Secret Diary & Growing Pains. They were both hilarious.

Inanna
26th January 2006, 07:48
Same here Kell, I loved Adrian Mole books and then the series that was on TV, must try to grab her other books too :D

Maureen
26th January 2006, 14:06
These books are really something!

Maureen
4th February 2006, 10:47
Got some books form the library. I got CSI (), The bone Collector (Jeffery Deaver), The Safe House (Nicci French), and Spain (The versatile Guide by Duncan Peterson)

Michelle
4th February 2006, 11:00

Maureen
4th February 2006, 11:02
I have The Red Room of hers, and I enjoyed it! I like NF's Style.

jake
4th February 2006, 11:20

Maureen
26th February 2006, 20:58

Maureen

Reserved In Death series by JD Robb from the library. Don't know in what sequence I'll get them though!

Michelle
10th March 2006, 16:50
Hmm... I forget, have you read any others? At this point in the series, you really need to know about the characters amd their pasts.

Maureen
10th March 2006, 16:51
Nope. Not even one!

Maureen
10th March 2006, 16:51
Virgin in Death

Michelle
10th March 2006, 16:55
Then start nearer the beginning - I started with Rapture, which is the 4th, and that was ok, but I then went back to number 1, which is Naked.

Maureen
10th March 2006, 17:03
Thanks Mich.
