That happened to me, too! I was waiting since the end of November for Watchmen. But it finally came back in stock last month and they sent it forthwith. What's the problem with yours?

It's 2 books and they keep saying expected delivery 4-6 weeks. Once that has come & gone I then get the same email agian with a new 4-6 week delivery estimate. I have finally run out of patience. They were originally birthday presents then Xmas pressies when they didn't arrive on time.

Oh dear, that was like my situation - it was a Christmas present, then a birthday present, then finally a very belated birthday present!

I remember someone I knew having the same problem with a course book - in the end, the tutor had to help her out! Somehow, they found the telephone number to try and get some answers (I think our tutor told my classmate to say that she was the uni lecturer and they gave her discount to apologise!)

Now, I've just searched Yell.com for amazon.co.uk and this has popped up:

Amazon.Co.Uk
1-9, The Grove, Slough, Berkshire SL1 1QP
Tel: 020 8636 9200
(Home Shopping)

So maybe try that number? You might not get your books any faster but you may get some money off if you sound deeply hurt ;)

:friends0:I hate it when that happens. :Tantrum: The two times it happened to me (not with books though), I tried Ebay and found what I wanted.

I've had that happen to me with Amazon, and it is frustrating to say the least. I have cancelled orders because of the constant delays. I don't know about the U.K., but over here Powells.com is a great resource as well as Abebooks.com.

Delivery is longer, but at least you get it. Eventually.

There was one time I'd actually forgotten I'd ever ordered the book from Powells, and there it came in the mail....yikes!

But on the whole Amazon has been good to deal with, exchanging damaged DVDs and the like [only once].

I have had similar problems. After waiting two months for an order (that they indicated was in stock) I cancelled. I will get the book on Ebay later, second hand.
On thed other hand, they can send an order like this one this week( 14 books), all of it within four days!

If they haven't got an item, then I wish they would say. Not advertise it in stock and then say they can't deliver for four to six weeks. That is not on.

Oddly enough another situation with Amazon came up and they have handled it quickly and courteously. I'd ordered a book through the Amazon Marketplace, early in April. I'd actually forgotten about it, and the other day realized I'd not received it yet and emailed the vendor [through Amazon] and received no response. Again, yesterday I emailed the vendor...when I received no response again, I notified Amazon and they are investigating, and if there is no resolution they will refund the money to me.

What I found refreshing is the fact that although it is not Amazon's fault in any way, they apologized several times and are making restitution asap. If I was dealing with this person on my own, it would be far more difficult and possibly unproductive.

Last year I'd ordered a book through the Amazon Marketplace [2nd hand], and it was not the edition advertised, when I contacted the vendor, they told me to mail the book back [to England in fact] and Amazon actually gave me a $5.00 credit to cover the postage I paid to send the book back. I thought that was nice of them, and unnecessary from their POV.

So all in all I have found Amazon to be a good shopping experience, even with the occasional procrastinations in receiving orders.
