Available in the USA as The Scent of Scandal
'She's had men popping in and out of there all day. They're more regular than our cuckoo clock.' Or so claim Rose's nosy neighbours, Anise and Angelica Weston.
When Rose escapes from London and Hugh – her devastatingly handsome, intelligent, charming, witty and good-in-bed ex-lover – she has no idea that her occupation as an aromatherapist will cause such a scandal in her new neighbourhood.
All Rose wants is a bit of peace and quiet, but instead she’s the cause of sensational gossip. Soon her life is more complicated than it ever was before – but maybe that’s because she’s in love again...
This is a funny look at village life.. with the shopkeeper who knows everyone and everything, the 'eccentric', the elderly nosy neighbour complete with binoculars, and a few surprising secrets!
Rose causes a stir with Anise, the aforementioned nosy neighbour, when she sets up as an aromatherapist. Then there's the fact that she's been 'the other woman', plus she's coming very close to doing it again....
Carole has developed some warm, loveable characters, and a funny storyline. Her humour shines through, and there are some clever aromatherapy links. I can be quite a cynic at times with romantic endings, but this one has you cheering for the main characters.
This is the second book I've read by this author, and I'll be looking out for more. :)
