I have just finished this book.
Somehow despite the subject matter I really enjoyed it.
A bit like Alice Hoffman but maybe because its American.
Don't think I'm giving anything away when I say that the title says pretty much what happens and the story is told from the point of view of an anonymous teenage boy watching the 'virgins'.
Somehow manages to make you smile and is a tale of the end of our society (for 30 somethings!) or the beginning of something new?

At first that sounded creepy but by the end sounding rather intriguing. May give this a try.

I loved this book and Middlesex, too. There was something about the tone/setting of the book that just grabbed me and wrapped me in. :D

I watched the film when I was working at an arthouse cinema a few years back & remember rather enjoying it. i've been meaning to get hold of the book too - I keep seeing it in Fopp & thinking, "I'll get it next time, when i've whittled down my TBR list a little" - LOL! I WILL get it eventually though!

I remember reading that book a year ago. I remember the beginning was really amazing, and then after that, the plot just kinda fizzled. I remember I only had fifty pages left and stopped. it was almost painful to continue.

I read this book last year and I loved it. I watched the film first and the book was quite similar which I enjoyed. I have Middlesex on my TBR pile - although I don't know when I'll eventually get round to reading it .

I've got the german edition, the english edition and the dvd at home. I like the story and the way it's told. It kinda gets you.
