Your opinions please?

We've been looking into the idea of having a 'themed' RC book, as in 'horror', 'classics', 'historical fiction'. We would still like you to nominate the books, but staying within the chosen genre.

What would you think about this as a general idea?

There are a few ways this could work..
a) everything could carry on exactly the same, but the nominations would be themed, instead of random
b) we could alternate.. random one month, themed the next
c) there could be 2 Reading Circles going on.. the monthly one, which would remain random, plus a themed one, possibly running mid-month to mid-month

Please let us know you're thoughts in this thread. If they're really mixed we can run a vote, but for now I'd like to see how people feel. :)

I don't know about having two. I can be slow sometimes, and would like to read my own books too..

Alternating sounds good.

The reason for alternating is that people often don't seem to like the chosen book (if the amount of people discussing is anything to go by), and this would give them a choice. But.. I appreciate it's alot for those who do want to join in all discussions, and may also get a little confusing.

B) sounds good to me, don't know if i could cope with 2, and it doesn't take much to confuse me either...lol

I don't think it would bother me which way it was done. If I fancy the book I will read it, if I don't then I won't - one book or two! :mrgreen:

I agree about alternating - I think they do this on another online book club and I was thinking how sensible it seemed.

That way, we can nominate stuff that doesn't fit in a category very easily (crossover stuff - like fantasy and childrens, or crime and historical) without worrying which month to nominate it in!

Alternating is sounding good so far.. if we do this, Kell has come up with enough categories to keep us going for 4 years! :lol:

And if anyone thinks of a theme they'd like to try, let us know - we'll add it to the list & we can pull one out of a hat every other month & see how it does... :)
