JK has said that 2 characters are going to die in the final book. Any ideas? Do you think she'll kill off Harry himself?

I think that at one, if not both, will be major characters - possibly Hagrid or Hermione (Oh, I hope I'm wrong!), but I think that one will most likely be Voldemort himself...

Ooh, crikey, I hope Neville Longbottom doesn't die! I have a feeling he'll play quite an important part in this final book, as he's the other boy who could have been the "chosen one". He's been underestimated by all & has played small but crucial roles at almost every step, so I think he's rather important.

Tiger
4th July 2006, 16:20
My three predictions are:

Hermione and Harry
Seamus and Harry (I like Seaumus- hope I'm wrong!)
McGogonogal (SP) and Snape

I think she'll kill Harry

Or am I just being mean now

Tiger
4th July 2006, 18:46
OK- Not Harry then! LOL

Sugar
4th July 2006, 21:46
She has suggested she MAY kill Harry - that would stop anyone writing any more sequels.

I think one of the Weasley's is a good bet too.

Kell
5th July 2006, 06:58
Maybe Harry isn't the Chosen One after all - maybe he'll die killing Voldemort & it'll turn out that Neville was The One all along - LOL!

I'm pretty certain that Voldemort will have to get it in the end - the whole triumph-over-evil thing & all...

I just hope she doesn't kill Snape. I adore his character (I like bad boys sorry ;) )and I want to know why Dumbledore had sucha undying trust in him?

I think that if anyone's going to die its going to be Ron and Hagrid though I'm hoping deep down its Harry.

Sarahrob

Maybe Harry will die in the act of killing Voldemort. Voldemort's got to go, no two ways about it.

I'd quite like Percy to go as well.

Tiger
6th July 2006, 14:56
I know, Percy's a "Little Mister Perfect." I mean, he's been a Prefect, Head Boy and now he works somewhere in the ministry! What more does he need?

Icecream
6th July 2006, 17:11
Well J.K has said that one is a main character. One will definitely be voldemort. It has to be. I would not like to gues at the other though.

While Voldermort's alway's been the main villain he's never in my opinion been a main character he doesn't have may big scenes in the book's really aside from the one in the Minestry the rest seem to be him referenced in name only or through Harry's dream's.

I have wondered if JK actually means two other main characters and its just pretty much expected that Voldermort will die anyway?

Icecream
8th July 2006, 20:45
I was never suggesting that Voldemort is a main character, just agreeing that he will most likely die. Those sentances are separate statements.

Kell
8th July 2006, 20:48
Voldemort seems to me to be one of those characters that's a constant presence in the background that's so strong that he's a main-type character, even when he's not there...

Gti-Chick
22nd November 2006, 23:34
Hmmm I think it'll be either Harry, Hermoine or Ron that die, but then again it could be someone completely different - just because we're all expecting one of them to die! who knows? Infact anyone know when this book is out?? I cant wait to read it :D

Gyre
22nd November 2006, 23:53
My predications are:

1, Ginny Weasley:

Think about it Harry's lost interest, they broke up because he is going after Voldemort, that would really hurt Harry.

2. Hermione:

I don't want to dare think it but it is a possibility, ooh I hope not..

3. Aunt Petunia:

A bit off the beaten track but I have always felt that she may be important to the story, she knows a lot more than she is giving away.

Gti-Chick

You have a very good point about Aunt Petunia Gyre, she does seem to know alot more than she possibly should... hmm..

LOL about Percy and I agree that it could be Harry and Voldemort.

Why does Voldemort have to go? There doesn't have to be a wonderful ending..

I honestly think that harry will not kill voldemort, i think someone like snape will kill him. Harry, being the hero will realise that by killing voldemort he will make him as bad as the dark lord.

I'm expecting voldemort to be at harrys mercy [a long dialogue lulling him into lowering his guard] then attack when his back is turned only then to be killed by a character you least expect.

I'm guessing snape, or a character returning frm the dead...maybe.

Gyre
27th November 2006, 18:53
Sirius maybe?, it possible he could come back from the dead.

I heard a rumour :dunno: that JK was going to kill off Harry? to prevent the possibility of further sequels, so i'm betting on Potter himself and Voldemort, both dying in the 'final battle' :readingtwo:

funny that.....loads of people at work refuse to believe that either Dumbledore or Sirius is dead, plus one PNE fan and mother of three still thinks Elvis is alive

He is, he does the washing up at mum's house. And when she's really behind, he does some gardening too.

I think Voldemort will kill Harry.....

Kiwimellon
29th November 2006, 11:34
At an interview in NY, JK confirmed 100% that Dumbledore is indeed dead. But, I think that he might still make some sort of appearance or presense. Maybe something like how Obi-Wan appeared to Luke. Or, maybe even just in a letter or something that he left before for Harry. One of those, If you are reading this than I am probably dead, type of deals. (Am I pushing it here :) )

One thing that I think will happen is that Snape will die. I honestly can not see how he will live throughout the last book, regardless of which side he really is one. Makes me sad to think about though...

Sarahrob
29th November 2006, 18:21
There is a portrait of Dumbledore in the head's office - if other portraits can speak and change locations surely he can - send a message to Harry that way?

I think Snape will turn out to be a goodie. He is a legillimens or whatever the word is, and I think Dumbledore probably told him mentally to kill him. He also stopped the others killing Harry a couple of times at the end of the last book.

Still would like Percy to go though...

O's

I think dumbledore knew he was going to die, he wanted it to be snape who kills him. Thats why they were arguing so much...I think.

Icecream

Harry has had a lot of protection and it seems his luck should run out, but at the same time those people could be objects of help on the path of destiny. I am sure I heard JK saying she wasn't going to kill Harry.

Just posting to say that it has been announced that the title of Book 7 will be: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Kind of a strange title... My betting is that the Deathly Hallows is a special time that Voldemort can use to strengthen his powers. Or something!

I wonder if Deathly Hallows is a place? I have read that JKR has mentioned Harry leaves Hogwarts without finishing his course - maybe this is where he ends up?

TammyRich
29th December 2006, 14:29
I thought the Deathly Hallows sounded like a place. I bet it is the place where Harry has his final showdown with Voldemort - which is inevitable. I can only imagine the final defeat of Voldemort being a confrontation with him ending with some sort of 'duel' between the two of them.

Is my memroy failing me, or is The Hallows where the Weezleys live? If I'm wrong, I don't know where I got that idea, but it's jumped into my head for some reason. If it is, could Percy (that most weasely of Weezleys) have something to do with it? After all, he's working for the Ministry of Magic & isn't Harry's biggest fan...

The Weasley's live at The Burrow. Well, at least that is what I think it is. The Potters lived at Godric Hollow, maybe that is what you are thinking of?

Icecream
29th December 2006, 20:43
Yes that is right. It is probably something to do with All Hallows eve, or it is a place, maybe a place that links Harry and Voldemort somehow.

I work in Tesco, but we aren't allowed to put stuff back to pay for later - gah!

I'm more bothered about starting it - I'll be champing at the bit! I bought the last one first thing in the morning and sat in a deckchair all day reading!

I'm sure my husband will go and get a copy for me - he always reads them after me anyway. :)

You could always get amazon to deliver it to your place of work! They're currently advertising the ability to pre-order and get it delivered within the uk on day of publication! Though they won't tell you till you get to the payment confirmation page that you have to pay more for this delivery option, but on the plus side they are offering it at 50% of the RRP at the moment!

Thanks for the suggestion. :)

Unfortunately, I work in Tesco and I wouldn't trust that it would even get to me.

I will make sure my husband gets me a copy on Saturday morning so I can start it when I get home.

I'll just have to avoid the internet/tv for a few days!

Aye, Dolores Umbridge if I remember correctly.
You do, although she wasn't a headteacher, but the Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher.

To aid my failing memory, I am currently listening to this in the car, and although I have just started tape 8 almost everything that I remembered has happened already!

Can someone help me out, please? Which book was the Night Bus in? Was it Prisoner of Azkaban? I thought it was later but having listened to Goblet of Fire and the start of Order of the Phoenix recently, I know it's not them.

Icecream
10th February 2007, 20:50
Ah, thanks Sugar, you are of course correct. Yes the knightbus was in the prisoner of azkaban. Harry blew up his Aunt, ran away, then saw Sirius in the form of the dog and stuck out his arm - that's where the knight bus came trundling along.

Sugar

When I read much earlier on, that Mz.R was doing just 7 books on HP, I thought it a good idea to collect them all and read them at my leisure .

It seemes that my old Headmaster was right in taking great pains to tell me,

Many thanks to Sugar, Maureen, It'll be a hoot reading them when all the hoo haa has has either died down, or some who've never read a book for yonks, I can tell them who are going through 'HPS' theres always the books, from whence the films sprang from. Hey !it's a great reason to get people who can read but don't want too, also for those who can't read, it's a great way to help them to learn and get to love books...don't you think.?;) :D

My late mother once said Nature/God just stopped short of me coming into the world with a book in my hand!
She read to me all the time she was experting me, and it stuck with me for life, love reading...and of books.
One thing I've always been greatful to my Mum for, the gift of life, and a love of reading, nothing like it. Two greatest things a mother can give her child. Don't you think.?
