Star
I love Nicholas Sparkes and thats the kind of author I'm after but need some ideas. I've recently discovered Paige Toon and I'm about to try her Pictures of Lily which sounds just up my street not read any of hers previously. Any ideas please bearing in mind I love romance and all that mush. Thanks
Chrissy
Linda Gillard! 'Emotional Geology' and 'Star Gazing' are two terrific reads. add onto that 'A Lifetime Burning' and 'House Of Silence'. Linda Gillard
Thanks, Chrissy - as ever - for the recommendations of my books. Star - the mushiest (!) of my books (if you have a Kindle) is probably UNTYING THE KNOT. http://www.amazon.co.uk/UNTYING-THE-KNOT-ebook/dp/B005JTAMQO/ref=pd_sim_kinc_2 I consider that the most romantic book I've written. STAR GAZING was shortlisted for Romantic Novel of the Year 2009 but A LIFETIME BURNING isn't romantic. Passionate, yes! Romantic, no. Do you know Sue Moorcroft? She writes modern believable romance. http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_1_7?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=sue+moorcroft+books&sprefix=sue+moo%2Cstripbooks%2C188 Or Anne Rivers Siddons? http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/search/ref=sr_tc_2_0?rh=I%3Astripbooks%2Ck%3AAnne+Rivers+Siddons&keywords=Anne+Rivers+Siddons&ie=UTF8&qid=1328700827&sr=1-2-ent&field-contributor_id=B000AQ3E5C

Star
Thanks for the replies guys. I'll check them out. I just stumbled across John Green and he sounds good although classed as YA but think I'll give him a try. Any others? x
MysteryRose
"One minute to midnight" by Amy Silver. I think it was the best novel I read last year and I really can recommend this one. All about romance and friendship. You'll love it!
Chrissy
My favourite book with love 'n' romance 'n' stuff is 'The Time Traveler's Wife' by Audrey Niffenegger. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but you can't deny the love in it.

chesilbeach
I tend to read romantic comedies when I do read romance so they rarely make me cry, but I've read two books by Anna McPartlin, both of which brought tears to my eyes - Pack Up The Moon and No Way To Say Goodbye
Weave
Linda Gillard ~ definitely recommended
Hayley
Ian McEwan 'Atonement'? I don't know if it's exactly the kind of thing you mean because I've never heard of the authors you mentioned in your original post but it is romantic and I was like in my head while reading it so it fits the tear-jerker description too
MysteryRose
I recently finished a book and I thought of you. This is def a must read. I loved it. No, I adored it! It's one of my most favourite novels now and I can't wait for the writer to publish her next novel. "This is a love story" by Jessica Thompson. Check it out. It really is worth reading!!!!
