Cold War thriller set in the 1950s

Recommended Posts

I've read this book about 13 years ago and for the love of god I can't remember the author nor the title. I've always thought it was either Clancy or Crichton or Grisham but I can't seem to find it anywhere.

It starts with a man waking up in some sort of homeless shelter - he lost his memory and certain people are trying to tell him that he is someone else. He is followed from there and he notices that he is. As he does, he realises he cannot be who he is being told he is.

The book involves launch of a rocket from Florida (where he gets by plane), his wife who turns out to be a spy for the commies and the main character having romantic relationship with his ex girlfriend.

I wish I remembered more, but I don't - I'd really like to read it again though. Any input will be much appreciated.

Thank you,

Mike
