Thanks Kylie, I can't wait to see it :)

I was in Waterstones during the week and there is a new edition of 'The Woman in Black' made by profile books, its the same idea of 'The Little Hand', also by Susan Hill, the profile version is lovely, they both are ~

Me too :) .. and I already have it in another format .. oh bother. It's too good though and I already have 'The Small Hand' so must have the matching pair. Are they the same size Weave or is The Woman in Black' larger as in pic?

Looking forward to the film everso :)

It was because I saw the trailer of the new film and it looked scary that I had a look on amazon for the book and luckily my library had a copy of it, it took much hunting, but I found it!! I really enjoyed it, I found it very atmospheric and it did not disappoint. I just hope the film does live up to the book when it finally comes out.

I saw the made for TV version about 20 years ago and that was well scary.

I have a copy of 'The Woman in Black' somewhere (it went missing during the decoration mania), I would love the matching books (on the to buy list :giggle:)

Hi VF, I have seen scenes from that version and it looks very scary, I remember someone posting on IMDB that the woman in black wasn't scary ~ gotta say, I found her pretty scary. 1.gif

OMG

I really like the summmary, and with all your review it just popped up on the top on my TBR list. The trailer give me the chickens dots >< (Yeaah, I'm easly scared, but keep watching scary stuff). The only thing is I usually prefer watching the movie before reading the book, because I'm always disapointed in adaptation if I read the book first ><. But I've read that the author herself enjoyed a lot the movie so maybe I can try read the book first this time :D

I went to see the film on Sunday. I read the book years ago and it creeped me out and the film did full justice to it. I got home in the dark and I was rushing to get in the door!

I must read the book again because I'm sure the film was different in places. I thought it was way too scary for a 12A!!! :ghost::hide:

If you like Susan Hill's particular style of Ghost Story Janet, then can I also recommend The Man in the Picture and The Mist in the Mirror, both are truly creepy.

These are now on my ever growing wish list!! Thank you!!

Half way through The Women in Black and it is creepy! I love how Susan Hill writes, in such a subtle but clever way.Wish I could write like that!

I have just ordered The Mist in the Mirror from Susan Hill's website and I have received a copy of The Man in the Picture for free.....and that's not the only thing....it's signed!!!! Woop Woop it has made my day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't seen the film, but have heard good things about it.

I have just finished reading the book and I loved it! I saw a trailer for the film and thought the film deviated from the book quite a lot...I am no film maker but I suppose this is something that they need to do to keep the excitement and concentration of the watcher?? I don't know but I hope the film doesn't ruin it for me...will be watching it tonight and will let you know.

Is it just me? I was really disappointed with this book after reading so many great reviews about it. I thought the overall plot was brilliant, and it had the potential to be a fabulous book, but it was too short, badly written and seemed rushed to me. Didn't find it creepy at all. I was gutted.
