Pixie
Hi, Chrissy. I'm looking forward to reading your reviews. You recommended Emotional Geology to me by Linda Gillard, and it was excellent. This is really my first reading list as well. I've never been so organized, and it's nothing compared to Kylie's. I suggest you start with a thick novel as I have done. It's a bold, hopeful start. Ben
Or you could look at it the other way and start off with something short and not too taxing to ease yourself in to the year; especially after a bad one last year like I had. I look forward to reading your thoughts and reviews on what you read, and best of luck with your 2011 reading.

chesilbeach
Welcome to the world of book listings, Chrissy I'm taking a much more relaxed attitude to it this year, rather than trying a proper review of each book, just some thoughts as I go along, with a full review in a specific book thread if I want to say a bit more. Can't wait to find out what you read this year! Happy reading!
Kylie
Yay! Chrissy has started a reading thread. I look forward to reading your comments throughout the year.

Chrissy
May I take this opportunity to thank everyone for their interest, and to say "GULP!" My mojo so far has not even got me selecting a book. I currently have 12 possibles, but haven't leant toward any in particular. No matter, this year just has to be better than last year....it just has to be! < good flounce eh?

Chrissy
I've been PICKLED! Pickle is on Book 2 of 'The Hunger Games' Trilogy, and is loving them. Coincidentally the first book was in my possible 12 pile, so I have read a few pages of that. If my mojo plays up at al.l the other 11 will be listed here, and I will be demanding a suggestion of which to read. You lot are BRILLIANT! Chrissy
The Other 11 were; The Passage by Justin Cronin Stardust by Neil Gaiman American Gods by Neil Gaiman Alone in Berlin by Hans Fallada Address Unknown by Kressman Taylor Patient: The True Story Of A Rare Illness by Ben Watt (of Everything But The Girl) Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffennegger The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde (a re read) The Knife Of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness Nation by Terry Pratchett Planet Of The Blind by Stephen Kuusisto And these don't even come close to denting my TBR piles. I am a happy reader!
Janet
Address Unknown by Kressman Taylor I listened to a dramatisation of that on Radio 4 last year and it was utterly brilliant! So good that I want to read it myself, even though I know the story. Why raisins?
pickle
The Passage by Justin Cronin Stardust by Neil Gaiman American Gods by Neil Gaiman The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde (a re read) Nation by Terry Pratchett I have read all of these and they are all unfailingly good, I loved The Passage which I read just before Christmas......but its part of a trilogy and boo hoo hoo the second isn't out for ages, a great read though... Can I also add I finished the second Hunger Games book when I got in from work this evening and have immediately gotten the third one out in anticipation of starting it tonight... Charm
Stardust by Neil Gaiman American Gods by Neil Gaiman I quite fancy these two myself. I read The Graveyard Book last year and thought it was a beautiful read. Your mojo should be chomping at the bit this year!

frankie
Janet: The other day when I sent a message to Chrissy to congratulate her on her very awesome and smart decision to start her own book blog, she mentioned that it tastes just like raisins. What am I supposed to do if not come here and have a taste? Whenever I come here I start to feel like baking.
Chrissy
1) The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins What a ride! This is a fast paced ,important and thrilling read that is often quite touching and at times harrowing. With well defined and described characters and scenes tautly but evocatively described this is a compelling book. As I read the last word on the last page I was already getting up from the sofa to grab the 2nd book in the trilogy, 'Hunger Games ~ Catching Fire'. I could spend all day and beyond recommending this book, telling you how brilliant Katniss is as a central character, how I my head is still there, as well as my heart. I could, but I won't. Just read it. Oh, and for those who already have read it....The tears really flowed when the flowers had been draped and a gift of bread arrived. Oh dear me, I choked. pickle
By the time you read 2 and especially 3 you will be in bits just like I was
Kylie
You really flew through that one Chrissy! No surprise either, being that it's a most excellent trilogy. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on the next two books.
SueK
Some good choices there Chrissy. Address Unknown by Kressman Taylor will take you all of half an hour to read - it's only 64 pages long but a most amazing book. Look forward to your reviews in any case.
