Perdie
Here's my challenge. The idea is to read a book for A-Z by authour name, but where I already own it TBR or I can download it for free. I'm missing some letters and I am hoping for suggestions. A further challenge will be for me to review them in some way as I haven't written any book reviews since school. 26 books isn't perhaps much of a challenge, but I've never been one for the classics and there are some of those here. Just need to find those last 4 authors now. If I can't find them for free then I guess I'll buy something but only once I have read all the others Jane Austen – Pride and Prejudice Beverley Barton – The Dying Game Michael Connelly - Nine Dragons Charles Dickens - A Christmas Carol Janet Evanovich - Finger lickin’ Fifteen - Christine Feehan – Magic in the Wind Diana Gabaldon – An Echo in the Bone Thomas Hardy – Tess and the d’Urbervilles Washington Irving – The Legend of Sleepy Hollow Peter James – The Perfect Murder Lauren Kate – Fallen Gaston Leroux – The Phantom of the Opera Val McDermid – Fever of the Bone Patrick Ness – The New World Richard Olin – All Day Wednesday Terry Prachett – The Colour of Magic Q - ? Tom Reynolds – Blood Sweat & Tea C J Sansom – Dark Fire Leo Tolstoy – Anna Karenina U? Jules Verne – The Mysterious Island Alison Weir – Traitors of the Tower X? Y? Emile Zola – The Dream

chesilbeach
There are a few authors you could try under X here www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/x I think the market for Chinese authors has increased in recent years, so there are few with new books out and should be available fairly easily or from the library. Perdie
Jane Austen – Pride and Prejudice Well that's A done! I decided to start right at the top and was glad I did! I found it hard to get into at first, the language was so different to what I usually read, but was really enjoying it by the time I got a third of the way through! By halfway I didn't want to put it down! I loved the way she delevoped the characters. The annoying, the pompous, the devious and of course our hero and heroine After this I downloaded her entire collection, and if that's not a sign of a good read, I'm not sure what is Now I've started B which is much different! Perdie
Beverly Barton - The Dying Game I don't think I can say too much about this book without giving the story away but here goes... This one was a free download from Amazon so thought I would give it a go. The story is about a serial killer who is targetting former Beauty Queens. It was an enjoyable enough read, though it didn't make me want to immediately buy all her other work, though if I found them really cheap I probably would. I would give this one about 7/10 Michael Connelly - Nine Dragons Some of the reviews of this one said that it was probably one of his weakest, and I'm sorry to say I would have to agree, but it was an easy enough read and I didn't actually find myself bored by it...could have done better I think, so a 6/10. I'm surprised at liking the Barton book better than the Connelly. Next is a classic, so I'll see how I do with that
