SueK
I wonder if any of you good people have read Rebecca West. I found a lovely copy of The Birds Fall Down in my local Oxfam bookshop this morning and will start reading it shortly. I read this book way, way back and too long ago to remember it so I'm looking forward to reading it again. I was surprised that it hadn't been reviewed on Amazon as it is reckon to be one of her best books. The Birds Fall Down
Chrissy
I have not read 'the Birds Fall Down', but I did read 'The Return Of The Soldier' by the same author and I enjoyed it.
Annalyn
I also read The Return of the Soldier. It was a short but well-written and touching novella.
frankie
I've never read anything by her, and it wasn't until last year that I even heard of her. I read Between the Sheets: The Literary Liaisons of Nine 20-Century Women Writers by Lesley McDowell and one of the chapters (and thus, one of the liaisons) was about Rebecca West and H. G. Wells. Fascinating stuff! I'd fully recommend it if anyone's interested in reading about her (and the other liaisons). I think I also added some of her novels on my wishlist after reading the book.
