diccy_w
Hi, I'm going on a holiday in a few weeks and need some books for it. At the moment I'm reading a lot of Orwell and Wilde and am looking for something similar. Please Help.
Janet
What sort of Orwell do you like? If you've enjoyed things like Coming up for Air (fiction) and Down and Out in Paris and London (non-fiction) then you might like Love on the Dole by Walter Greenwood - that has a similar feel to it. Also, Anna of the Five Towns by Arnold Bennett. Both of these are fictional.
waynehead83
I've only read one Orwell book and that was 1984, I expect you'l have already read it. Really enjoyed it though, 5 stars
The Good Citizen
Down and Out in Paris and London is my favourite Orwell book, followed by Homage to Catalonia. I'd highly recommend both. I'd suggest Steinbeck - Grapes of Wrath, if only because I flip between him and Orwell as my favourite author.
