Signor Finzione
I take it by your smiley you're not sure if this is good news or not? I'd just prefer it if Steven Erikson was writing all these extra books instead of ICE - he's a much, much better writer.
Karsa Orlong
Hmm. Looks like there's even more to come from Ian Cameron Esslemont. Yay!! <<does happy dance>>
Karsa Orlong
http://www.reddit.com/r/Fantasy/comments/2g0whr/hello_reddit_i_am_novelist_steven_erikson_please/cker229 It's interesting you point out the prevalence of duos in the novels, and yes, I do think that came in part from the one-to-one gaming Cam and I did: all those dialogues invoke the tone and atmosphere of our games, so to return to such pairings was for me an act of nostalgia, I suppose. That said, writing workshop instructors might well look grave and slowly shake their heads, since it's always more dramatic to have three characters rather than two. But I would counter, if the setting becomes a character, then two is actually three, so pi-ss off.
Signor Finzione
Brilliant I love that the reason we have so much foreshadowing and such a long, complex series is basically because he was "chuffed" by the idea of it all.

Signor Finzione
FINALLY!! Not that I've read the first one yet.
Karsa Orlong
I'd probably have to read it again. I remember lots about it but not enough, I suspect. I'm just not sure I liked it anywhere near enough to want to re-read it
thatdifficultfirstnovel
I've got paperback copies of the first five in a trawl I did of charity shops near mine not too long ago. Just really struggling to find time to really engage with the series.
Karsa Orlong
Yeah, the one thing you definitely need with this series is time to give it your full attention and immerse yourself in it. I was fortunate the first time I read it because I was working part time and from home, so I lost myself in it completely.
