Mexicola Posted February 21, 2010 Share Posted February 21, 2010 I finished The Eyre Affair last night and did in fact end up loving it. I'm not sure what my problem with it was to begin with, maybe because it was so unlike what I usually read (I'm pretty new to the fantasy genre). However, it was just that which made me enjoy it so much in the end. I loved the last (Jane Eyre) part of the book, and kind of wish that there had been more of that throughout. Aw that was very sweet of him! Now all we have to do is find your mojo and get you reading them! Only came out about 2 years ago. I envy you, would love to be reading these again for first time. I am a massive Michael Connolly fan and cannot wait to get nine dragons from my sister when she is done with it (I bought her it for Christmas) and it was her and my mum that got me into Michael Connolly books and more importantly introduced me to the legend that is Harry Bosch! That's the edition I bought recently, even though I already had a copy. I just love this cover. I know there's also an edition out that has the 'War is Peace...' quote on the cover, but no actual reference to the book's title, which I think is pretty cool. Yes the very one! A nice eye-catching cover and probably one of the reasons i bought it; if it was just a dull blank cover with 1984 on it i probably would have walked on. As for my book activity, well i just managed to add a HUNDRED classic books to my collection for just 15euro, and here's how: I cant believe i missed this opportunity before. I have a DS but had never heard of this title before today, so i snapped it up. You can read many many classic titles like Kidnapped, A Tale of Two Cities, Treasure Island and scores more. I generally dont read the classic books very much but recently i have been wanting to branch out a bit and expand my tastes so i am going to start reading some of the esteemed authors like Dickens. I probably wont read all hundred of them as some will appeal more than others but its a fantastic idea i must say. You read the book by using the stylus to turn the pages and holding the DS sideways like a book. Very good but since it has quite a bit of science in it's taking me a long time to read a little. When I get halfway through I might read Shutter Island and then come back to it. I also bought the matching Animal Farm edition. I finished Cloudstreet this morning. It's an excellent novel and well-deserved of all the critical acclaim. I've now started Coraline by Neil Gaiman. Would love to hear what you think of it I managed to read a couple of chapters of Snuff while waiting for my Aunt who was running late this morning. I'm really enjoying it and as is usual with Mr Palahniuk, it's well researched so I'm receiving an education in street gangs and pornography too. Fantastic book so far and already loving the suspense the author is building. The two main characters are also very funny and have a great relationship. I'm waiting for 'something' to happen but Sarah Waters seems to be building the atmosphere of Hundreds and giving a real feel for the characters. Once I'd finished I didn't want to start another book strait after because I wanted to sit and wallow in enjoyment. I also read Captain Corelli's Mandolin which isn't my usual type of book but I found it for 25p and decided to give it a go. It actually made me cry (I don't cry at books) which made me not wont to pick it back up but I did anyway and really loved it.
