The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar by Roald Dahl

Recommended Posts

I loved this collection of seven short stories and they're up there in my favourites! 'Luck Break' is autobiographical and explains how Dahl started his career in writing after serving as a fighter pilot during World War II.

Others include:

Boy who talked with animals

The hitch-hiker

The Mildenhall treasure

The Swan

The wonderful story of Henry Sugar

Damn. Memory lane trip.

I had to read this for a project in English. This was probably before I even started GCSE's (24 now) so quite a while back.

The title story is the one about the guy who trains himself to see through playing cards, no?

Was a cool book if I remember rightly.
