It sticks in my mind as a book that I really enjoyed but I can't really remember what the book was about....I would like to get it for my 12 year old nephew for Christmas. If anybody that reads this, happens to have read the book themselves then you may remember the book from these scant details, I appreciate that it is a shot in the dark though! I read it in the late 80's/early 90's. I seem to remember that it was quite a dark plot which revolved around characters that were the minister for traffic, minister for cash, etc, etc....These ministers had seemingly special powers over each of their 'specialities'. Some of them used the powers for their own gain. One of these ministers was called Tarquin. That's all I can remember really!! If you can remember the book from this then I will be amazed! No idea what it was called, but I do remember something about a character having a contract to write a set amount of words every month. Is this the same story?
