Book Journal

I've decided that I would like to buy a Book Journal to keep lists of all my books (combining lists and books and a lovely journal - what could be better!) I was just wondering if anybody could recommend a good one as I've never actually seen one before (I only know they exist as somebody mentioned one in a post somewhere)

I've come across this one on Amazon that looks quite nice but I'm unsure. Ideally I want room for lists of books I've read, books I want to purchase, and possibility room for general notes such as quotes etc. Any recommendations??

I have that book Journal, I can't recommend it highly enough. It's 5 years old and still in fantastic condition, good binding it seems the pages are still secure and spine intact plus thick good quality paper.

It has a table of contents at the beginning with the headings:

Book Lists-Books to Read p.9

Record Books- Of Books read P.31

Book Keeping- Books I want to own P.79

Sharing Books- Books loaned, Borrowed, received P89

Book Groups P.111

Books to remember P.127

Book passages- For Quote, phrases or paragraphs p.135

Address Book for Libraries, bookstores and Book clubs P.141

Hope that helps. :smile2:

A couple of years ago I bought a book journal from Paperchase. It had a section for book reviews, books to read and books borrowed / lent. However it only had space for 60 books so if you read a lot you would have to buy two.

Last year I had to use a notebook, but again there wasn't enough pages and I had to use post - it notes on the backs of some pages. This year I'm again using a notebook as I couldn't find the book journal in Paperchase although I did spot one in Waterstones but it was a bit too small for me.

Thanks for all the recommendations! :) Unforunately I'm still no closer to picking one! I really like the thought of a book journal (because they're all so pretty!) but I'm now wondering if I might be better with just a really nice notebook, as I don't really borrow or lend books so some sections might not be very useful to me. Hhhmm decisions decisions. I might have to pop into Waterstones and see what they have.

Oh I've just come across another one! Does anybody have one of these? Looks nice but there are no reviews on Amazon. Or what about this one? So many to choose from!

Looking on Amazon for a book journal has opened a whole can of worms regarding specialist journals, and just very pretty notebooks. I can see myself ending up with loads! I'm now considering a film journal (I'm aiming to watch a lot more films this year) I also love the look of this Listography Journal.

When I came across this thread the other day it inspired me to have a look through the gorgeous book journals available on Amazon. Although I love the idea of them it seems like the majority of the specialist book journals only have room for about 60-80 books which isn't all that many considering how many I can get through in a year. I think I might just use one of the many gorgeous hardback notebooks I already own instead.

I have just given in to tentation and splurged on the gorgeous Moleskine Book Journal. May I just say, upon unwrapping, that it seems very ingeniously organised indeed? I mean, it has alphabetical sections for notes (oh so useful for review planning), six tabbed sections to personalise with your choice of included stickers (i.e. 'Book Signings', 'Wishlist' etc.) or customised ones - choices, choices - and, most importantly, an index at the end to allow you to locate each entry in an instant *gasps* I think I'm in love. Ok, it may not be ideal for the reader who gets through a book a day, but for little me it is a little thing of OCD beauty.

Sounds lovely, BookJumper! Is that the one you posted a link on amazon to? I mess up everything I have to write in, with my awful scrawl :(

Indeed it is - and, and, and, it boasts not one but TWO ribbon bookmarks! And a double memento pouch at the back for... things (bookmarks! book tokens & vouchers! book receipts! tickets to signings!) *dies of happiness* I now can't wait to finish The Blue Girl just so I can write in it (I'd feel like I was cheating if I wrote in it retrospectively ).

I love the idea of having an official book journal but I can't find one that suits my needs. All the ones that I have found, either in the shops or online, either don't have all that many pages or they're divided into sections, some of which I won't use, so I tend to stick to just plain old lined notebooks instead.

One of my online mates uses index cards. She uses one index card per book with all the publishing details (title, author, ISBN, publisher etc) along with the synopsis, the dates she started/finished it and then there's a space where she jots down her favourite quotes/references etc and then the rest of the space she uses for her own personal notes. She then stores them in an Index Card Box alphabetically by author. It seems to work really well for her and I've been tempted to try it in the past but have never quite gotten around to it. I think it's a great idea though.

Ooooh, I really like the sound of this, but I think I would be too lazy to do it, and of course I'd want to write very neatly and that's something I can't do anymore due to not having to write with a pencil/pen in ages. Hmph.

I never thought of using a book journal until just a few days ago.

Not that I didn't like the idea (I loved it!) I just thought I'd probably stop writting after a while :D

But since I've joined the forum and started writing reviews, I started making notes while I read, which I usually throw away after I write the review...

Now the idea of keeping a journal seems pretty useful! Plus I could keep the quotes I like in one place instead of in milions of notebooks etc...

My only book journal is my list of books read for the year. That includes the date finished and a 1-5 rating. I use notecards for bookmarks sometimes, particularly for books I think I'll find a good quote or unfamiliar words. My books read list is kept in a 3-ring binder full of lists of potential reads..that list is always incomplete.

I really really want one, good thing my birthday is coming up. Since I don't find it likely anyone will give me a horse I think I will wish for a nice book journal instead. :D Does amazon ship abroad? I live in Sweden and can't seem to find any Swedish sites that sell one.

So I actually found a way to buy one of these from Sweden and now comes the tricky part, I have to pick one!

Any recommendations? I'm choosing between these once:

Moleskine Book Journal

My Bibliofile

A book lovers Diary

I saw some of you had these, do you like them? Please help!
