Anne Bishop's BLOOD JEWELS TRIOLOGY

Anyone ever read these? Some tyranical women ruling everyone taking special interest in abusing men phyiscally, emotionally and sexually. That's not to say that Janelle in the first book Daughter of the Blood does not have a hard time as well. Saetan as a father figure was interesting as is the notion of hell in these stories.

I liked the trilogy. It was a very interesting world and I was quite captivated by Daemon Sadi and his family and that sick, twisted society he lived in. I especially liked the way Daemon, this scarred and cold man, a slave with immense power taht could not be unleashed without great cost and suffering, could find himself living his lost childhood with young Jaenelle. That was te part I enjoyed the most.

Anne Bishop still continues to release other books in the "Realms of the Blood" and I admit I still buy them as soon as I see them, but they're never quite as good as those three. By this time she should have killed some important character already. In not doing so, it's becoming extremely predicable.

I've also read "The world of the Fae" by Anne Bishop, and it was disappointing.

I've read all Anne Bishop's books and I like the Black Jewels series. The triology is the best, but it has the epic build. The others are more quiet, but I like the way they show how life goes on with small problems. The interaction between the main characters is good throughout.

Dare one ask just how much sex there is in these books ? The premise interests me and the cover appeals, but I have been known to abandon books whose premise and cover had intrigued me at the time because of excessive adult content and these look like they might contain more than their fair share so... thoughts?

the sex isnt explicite compared to other series say like Anita Blake which is basically soft porn

No its much more subtle and not as much:mrgreen:

She makes the characters sexy without all the porn, and i love that, her male characters in the Dark Jewel series are jummy, in a dark kinda way

There isn't too much graphic content, but they still manage to be very sensual. I really enjoyed the balance she wrote between the two.

I have thoroughly enjoyed all the books set in this world. The first three are the best, without a doubt, but the other serve to flesh out other characters or places. Making this world overall one of my favorites in fantasy books.

Her other series, the Tir Alainn trilogy and the Ephemera books are also amazing. I would read many many more books about either of these worlds and not get tired of the rich detail she puts into creating her settings.

I think the quality of the Black Jewels books has gone down slightly, but not very much. I still find them extremely enjoyable and have read the three latest in one sitting each after I bought them. But the deep plots and twists that were in the first three haven't been matched in that series yet. That being said the plot lines in the Tir Alain books, and in the Ephemera duology were just as deep and intricate as the Daugter of the Blood set. Without being as disturbing in their content.

I realize it's been quite some time since the last posting, however, I simply wanted to comment that I adored the series and the world Anne Bishop had created. And, yes, her Ephemera books are quite engaging as well.
