Janet
I know how much you like it, Roxi. I felt almost nervous in fact in case I didn't like it and you were cross! I've just finished Before We Say Goodbye by Louise Candlish. Thoughts to follow. Usually, if I can't find a thread about a book I start a review one in the relevant (in this case Women's Fiction) forum, but I don't think I should with this one as it's not very complimentary, so I'll do it here instead! Janet
I'm reading Family Life: Birth, Death and the Whole Damn Thing by Elisabeth Luard (N/F) for my Bookworms group. Our meeting is next Wednesday but I should easily finish it by then. I'm enjoying it so far and it's an easy read.

Janet
Thanks Paula. Sometimes they flow beautifully and other times I spent hours staring at a blank screen wondering how to get my thoughts down into words!

~Andrea~
I finished The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde this morning. I tried it once before a few years ago but stopped at about page 50 (from memory, I had to abandon it to finish something for college, and I just didn't get round to picking it up again) so I started from scratch and got back into it really easily.
Nollaig
I know how much you like it, Roxi. I felt almost nervous in fact in case I didn't like it and you were cross! Hahaha ahhh I'm not that scary am I? Charm didn't like it and she lived to tell the tale It is a very distinct style that Oscar has though, so naturally it's not to everyone's taste. Janet
Glad you enjoyed this - I thought it was teriffic. Yeah, I really enjoyed it. Hahaha ahhh I'm not that scary am I? Yes No, of course not! It is a very distinct style that Oscar has though, so naturally it's not to everyone's taste. He's very witty. I loved reading A Woman of no Importance for A level English recently - what a clever guy!
Nollaig
Oh dear. I think I'll have to approach people with cookies from now on
Janet
Aww, I really was kidding. Although cookies are always a good thing... I finished Family Life by Elisabeth Luard this afternoon. I really enjoyed most of it, although some of her ideas are a bit... archaic to my way of thinking. I shall post about it more later. Janet
Today I read Danny Wallace and the Centre of the Universe by Danny Wallace. Another of the ‘Quick Reads’ books released each year for World Book Day (2006, in this case), this would be a good taster for anyone who hasn’t read Danny Wallace yet. I’ve only read one other by him, Friends Like These, which is much funnier than this, but I still enjoyed it. Danny has an easy writing style which makes reading him like chatting to a mate over a pint and a sandwich in your local! Janet
It didn't win the Reading Circle vote in the end (although at one point it seemed it would), but as I've already read The Reader, I'm about to start the runner-up An Awfully Big Adventure by Beryl Bainbridge as that's the one I voted for. Janet
Started The Heretic's Daughter by Kathleen Kent during a 20 minute wait sitting in my car this morning - I'm only on about page 25 but I'm loving the style so far. Janet
I've just finished The Heretic's Daughter by Kathleen Kent. I shall put some thoughts down on paper soon, whilst they're still fresh in my mind. ETA: I have started a thread about this. Janet
I have just started The Amazing Story of Adolphus Tips by Michael Morpurgo. I haven't read any of his books before but my daughter loves him (even though some of his books are probably a bit young for her!).

Janet
I finished Kensuke's Kingdom (what a lovely book) and then read The Sisterhood by Emily Barr. Thoughts on both to follow. I haven't decided what I'm going to read next. Hmmm.
