Laramie
I don't know if this should go in the classics club, but never mind. I wonder if anyone could recommend a good classic for a 15-year-old? I've found a site that gives you free ebooks, you see, but only on old books. I have Beatrix Potter, Black Beauty and Aesop's fables so far. Any suggestions? Janet
The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett? It should be old enough to be on that site. Similarly, The Railway Children by E Nesbit!
Laramie
It has 11 by him, but not The Secret Garden. Doesn't have The Railway Children either. grrr thanks anyway. Any other suggestions?
Kell
Depends on what kind of thing the particular 15-y-o is into. Myself, I was into horror - especially vampires - so things like Dracula and Frankenstein were perfect for me.
~V~
Little Women (or Good Wives, etc)? I suppose I was into Horror a little more at fifteen too
Laramie
Just got Frankenstein (oddly, famous as it is, I've never actually read it). Got Dracula too, though we read a play version at school and it sucked. And I got Little Women as well! Thanks for your help, guys. That'll do me for now (though I may be back when I've read them ). EDIT: I just got 2 Jane Austen too. My friend likes Pride and Prejudice, and that was one of the ones I got, so hopefully that'll be good Edited May 25, 2008 by Doctor-Who-Mad-Gal
Mia
The Little Princess (or is it A Little Princess?), or maybe Jane Eyre.
Karen1
Oooh I loved Jane Eyre. It's the only 'classic' I've ever been able to read.

Dimitra
I love Wuthering Heights! Such a touching story Yeah, I was going to say the same thing. I see you got Jane Eyre, good choice in my opinion;). Also, if you like Pride & Prejudice, try Sense & Sensibility, Emma and perhaps Persuasion, they're from the same author. But Wuthering Heights most of all! Polly
Ah I few people have taken my suggestion definatly read Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. The Jane Austin novels are also really good though can get slightly repetative.
