March
Hi Valentina, perhaps you would like to read "A Leap of Love by Catherine Lim." It is made into a film called The Leap Years. It has been showing in the cinemas here since 29 February. I hope to watch it soon. Catherine Lim resides in Singapore but she was born in Malaysia so if you decide to read this book, you maybe categorize it in both countries? ValenCina
Thanks for the advice March, I don't know any Malaysian nor Singaporean writers so I would definitely take it into consideration. I haven't found any book entitled A leap of love on Amazon, but the other titles by Lim seem pretty interesting. Have you read any other of her books? March
I've read one of her books when I was in primary school... that would be at least 20 years ago!! I cannot recall the title but it was a short story. I watched the trailer of "The Leap Years" (its a local movie production & I don't think it will be showing in Italy or too far from Singapore) and thought it looked promising (almost like P.S. I Love You). Its about a girl and guy promising to meet each other every February 29th. There are also scenes of where this girl, in tears, ran in the rain, with her wedding dress. And it asks... will you wait 12 years for your love? Btw, P.S. I Love You is by an Irish author, Cecilia Ahern. This book is made into a movie as well. I enjoyed the movie but I like the book better. Guest Sedgewick
I don't know any Malaysian nor Singaporean writers so I would definitely take it into consideration. Using one person for two countries is a bit of a swizzle, isn't it? There's a Malaysian writer called Tan Twan Eng who wrote 'The Gift Of Rain', which astounded many by making the Booker longlist last year. Also, there's 'The Harmony Silk Factory' by Tash Aw. They are quite enjoyable. Nothing too deep.
