Paul Adams
Just wondering if anyone on this forum has any experience or knows a book valuing contact as I’ve stumbled across some original books from 1811!! they are amazing and I don’t really know what to do with them! They are beautiful and all hand drawn animal sketches. titled: “Work of Animals” The fables of ESOP, Gay and Phedrus. Drawn from the life and etched by Samuel Howitt. London published 1811
Hayley
Hi Paul, welcome to the forum. What an amazing find! Unfortunately we don’t have any book valuing experts or contacts here, but there are a couple of bookshops selling ‘A New Work of Animals’ etched by Samuel Howitt through Abe books. Charles Russell in Cirencester has it listed at £375 and Symonds Rare Books in London has one for £700. It might be worth contacting them? Raven
There are a few specialist books shops in the Charring Cross area of London that might be able to give you an appraisal, if you can get there (Symonds may be one of them!)
