^ I ate three Easter eggs at work on Thursday and felt awful. Then they'd gotten me a Bebe and I was of course obliged to eat it and that was a whole lot of sugar :D After 2 PM I noticed I hadn't eaten my lunch at 1 PM which is my usual time... Didn't feel hungry after all the chocolate and sugar :D Yuck!!

I was going to buy some Easter eggs for me and J yesterday, a particular kind with white chocolate type of stuffing inside (they are really yummy!) but the shop had run out :(

Happy Easter to everyone who celebrates it, and a Happy Weekend to everyone else! :smile2:

Remember, don't be fooled.....!! :hide:

Coran and I are not up to much today as not much is open. We have been out for a coffee this morning but that's about exciting as it gets.

Friday and Saturday were a bit busier though. On Friday we went into Guildford for some shopping. I spent almost £50 in Lush mostly on soaps and moisturiser and we both bought new walking shoes. Mine cost £102 but they will be worth it if they last as long as the last pair did - almost 6 years, and they are so comfortable. Our usual veggie restaurant isn't open during school holidays so we went to Marks and Spencer for lunch instead. Yesterday was the weekly shop and another good rummage through all the clothes in Sainsbury's, which are 25 percent off this weekend. I have a trip to Montenegro coming up at the end of April, so bought a pair of blue and white mixed linen shorts, a mustard coloured hoodie and a pair of black sandals - all for £33 which can't be bad. Last night I went to see one of my favourite operas on the big screen at the local theatre/cinema - Cosi fan Tutte, which was brilliant and very funny - the name means women are like that and it's a bit of a parody whereby two men decide to test whether their fiancés are true to them by disguising themselves as each other. It's all a bit unlikely, but great fun with some really good singing and acting, as opera is of course both. I am going to see another one on Wednesday - Macbeth which if the trailer is anything to go by looks spectacular.

We don't have much planned for tomorrow other than a massage. Our friend Mel whom we haven't seen for some time is coming at 11 to do both of us, so it will be nice to catch up with her and see what she has been up to. After that we probably won't want to do much anyway!

This holiday has been a right washout, went to a friend for dinner on Saturday and yesterday had hoped to go to a country fair, however got there and found it had been cancelled, presumably due to waterlogged/muddy fields, hardly surprising really, so we ended up going somewhere for tea, then today just went to the supermarket and a garden centre, wanted to get some compost but they only had the huge bags which I can't lift, so that was a waste of time as well!  The weather has really been atrocious this weekend.

I've had a lovely weekend.  I've done very little except go out for brunch, visit a couple of bookshops and read, so the weather hasn't particularly bothered me!  Back to the grindstone tomorrow, but at least it's a short working week thanks to the bank holiday today. :D

Thanks all for the kind comments about Penny (my pupper) in the March thread. Unfortunately she needs skin grafts and the skin that was there had to be removed as it was dead. So about 4 weeks before she can come home, and 8 weeks for a full recovery. Not sleeping much with thinking about her on her own in the vets with no idea whats happening and in constant pain. Hoping for an update today or tomorrow from vet.

Had a good break over Easter, off Friday-Monday. Had chocolate eggs, had an (admittedly mediocre) dinner (but delicious dessert) with a voucher, and went to see Pacific Rim: Uprising (also mediocre). But it was good to get out of the house and try get our minds off Penny. Also getting back into cross-stitching and reading, which is good :)

Hope everyone enjoyed their Easter weekend,

Sorry for being MIA the past week or so! I've been dealing with headaches, job interviews, and Easter with my family. I took yesterday and today off work, mostly because of a migraine, but also because I'm nervously waiting to hear if I got one of the jobs I interviewed for. The recruiter I'm working with thinks I've got it, but I'm bracing myself for a "no".

Easter Sunday, we went over to my parents' house where the family got together for dinner. My younger brother had to work (dealing cards at a casino, no less...he called it "Dealin' cards for Jesus"), so it was just me and BF, my older brother and his wife, and my parents. My nephew was also missing, as he's on a vacation with his other grandma, touring Washington D.C. and New York City. It was nice to see the people who were there, though, as BF and I have been laying low the past few months and not attending family dinners.

Thanks again, all :) Visited Penny yesterday and she's off the IV fluids, and full of beans. Fed up, but full of beans, so that's good. She's only eating chicken for them, the snobby little bugger!

Echo, glad you had a nice Easter and fingers crossed r.e. the job. Is that the same job you mentioned before after you spoke to the recruiter about your previous job situation?

I have an interview in just under two weeks. Dreading it, hate interviews. Last time this job came up was when I was going through a serious rough patch and I bailed on the interview. Well it's back, and I really can't bail this time. Fortunately this time there's no presentation element (thank god). I've ordered a suit jacket because Cork city seriously does not do simple black ones in my size. Hoping it fits.

No other news really I don't think. Or if there is I've forgotten it!

Good luck with the jobs to both of you - and good news re Penny.

I am nervous for a different reason - I have my own appraisal next week, and have to do them for all 3 of my own staff as well by the end of the month. I am not nervous about mine, as I know I do a great job, but I am nervous about conducting them as I haven't done them before and haven't had any training. I have printed out all the guidelines to help me so will have to try and have a read in the next few days.

Maybe sit down with Coran and run through them a few times for practice. I think that's what I did the first time I ever had to give a review (or a write-up, which is even scarier!).

Thanks for the god wishes, everyone! I haven't heard back yet, but my recruiter is on top of it and is sending me encouraging messages. I'm feeling better, so I'm back at work, catching up on emails.

I'm looking forward to the weekend :). I hope everyone has a nice weekend :). I'm planning to spend mine with my family & boyfriend and I plan to do some nice reading.

Yes - maybe. I think the key is just to take time to do it properly and talk to my own Manager on Wednesday when I have my own one. I am sure it isn't as scary as it seems anyway - most things aren't and it isn't as if I don't know the people concerned. I know them all very well in fact and speak to two of them at least every day at work (the other one isn't there every day). I am glad as always though to finish for the weekend. I spent most of the day waiting for a large delivery which still hadn't turned up by the time I left, so I said to the maintenance men who finish an hour later than I do that if it did turn up after I went to chuck it all in the housekeeping shed and let me sort it out on Monday - god knows what I will find then on Monday morning!

I am at work, struggling to keep my eyes open. I didn't get to sleep until 3:00 AM last night and woke up at 7:00. It's only 10:45 AM right now, and I'm sooooo tired! I'm going to lunch at 12:30, getting my favorite chicken tacos, so hopefully that will help wake me up. :Zzzz:

Hope everyone had a nice Easter. Ours was pretty good. I spent a nice week off with the boy doing various  day trips whilst my youngest was in nursery for 4 days. Tomorrow it's back to work though (seems ages since I was in cos of the extended Easter weekend - I could almost get used to the non working lifestyle ;)) and holiday club for James.

Glad your dog's on the mend, Noll. :)

Yes, good to hear that Penny is getting better.

I had a very productive appraisal today and got some good pointers from my own Manager on how to conduct them so am feeling a lot more confident. We have seta  few goals for the next few months which are more than achievable. I went to see the dentist on the way home and she was so impressed with how I am looking after my teeth that I don't have to go back until next year. :) I have also been thinking about where to go for another holiday in October - I find you need to book well ahead to get the best deals, and with such a small team at work as well you have to get your dates booked before anyone else does. I was thinking about 3 different places - Morocco, Crete or Budapest, all very different but have settled on Budapest. Most of the flights to the parts of Morocco and Crete that I was interested in cease at the end of October and because of that the prices are sky high, but I can get a flight to Budapest with BA for £60 as I have loads of Avios saved up, so I have gone ahead and booked a lovely apartment for 5 nights. I will book the flights later on tonight I expect.

I'm glad your appraisal was good :). Wow, how nice you won't have to go back to the dentist until next year! I hope you will have a great holiday in Budapest :).

I have an important appointment tomorrow afternoon :hide: (I look forward to when it's over). My brother and his girlfriend are coming by tomorrow evening to see my parents. They will have dinner together, but if I feel like joining them and am not too tired after my appointment, Michael and I will join them for dinner (if I'm too tired though we'll have dinner separately and I'll just say hello and talk a bit).

I'm so glad your appraisal went well and that you got some good pointers. And Budapest sounds amazing...I love hearing about your travels. :D

I got an update on the new job, and it looks like nothing will be finalized until next week, which is kind of a bummer. BF and I have been shopping like crazy, with me buying new clothes and shoes, and him buying new clothes, electronics (computer accessories and a used PS3), and beer. We have so many online orders shipping to us...two from Amazon, two from Old Navy, and one from Nordstrom. It's going to be a pain tracking all those packages! We live in a secure apartment building, so packages don't always make their way to us.

Noll, I'm glad Penny is doing better!

I didn't know you had even got that new job Echo - that's brilliant. It's a pain waiting around for news though.

Our new CEO who started a month or so ago has been ruffling a few feathers as she is very business like and straight talking - which I personally like. It is definitely what we need, as there are a lot of people where I work who are stuck in their ways and need a hefty kick up the backside. One of the things she wants to address is the lack of recycling (something I actually suggested to her) and to this end I have been charged with sourcing some proper recycling bins for all the offices. I made a few calls today and think I have managed to find what we need so all I have to do now is get it approved and then order them - I have such an exciting life!

Its the weekend though - Coran has just gone to get us some fish and chips, so I had better go and wash the plates ....
