Things are really good for me actually at the moment after a pretty stressful time at the beginning of the year. Corans health seems to be slowly improving, I am sleeping a lot better as well which certainly helps, and my moods have been a lot less up and down. I haven't had a period for almost 4 months now so I am hoping this means I won't get another one, which would certainly explain the lack of mood swings and improved sleep patterns. Sorry to you men if this is a bit graphic, but its part of life.

I hope you won't get another one :).

Work is really good too. It's a busy time for us with spring cleaning and so on. I have been busy getting quotes for new machinery as we have not spent our budget for the year and we want to make sure we do as otherwise it will be cut next year - I am hoping to try and get some steam mops to give the floors all a really deep clean without the use of chemicals, which will potentially save us even more money. The garden at work is coming to life with lots of flowers in bloom and buds starting to appear on some of the trees. The spring equinox is tomorrow and the clocks change this weekend - I think most people feel a lot better after that as it means that summer is on its way. Long may it last!

I look forward to spring too :).

It was still almost light when I got home at around 6.30 tonight, and all the buds are ready to open, despite the latest cold snap. All we need is some warmer weather now.... still not going to plant any seeds or bulbs yet though.

I'm waiting to plant seeds as well, probably best to wait a bit just in case it gets really cold again.

You and me both. The sense of freedom is great, although I still have to carry stuff with me just n case. I have to wait another 8 months until I know for sure, as women over 50 have to be period free for a year before they can say for certain that they have had the menopause.

Today was such a beautiful day though. Everyone feels happier when the sun is out.

I've been so stressed and exhausted lately. After a lot of thought, I've decided to look for a different job. Everything came to a head last week when my boss sat me down and basically told me I need to stop being a introvert because it's not working for him. I've already been struggling with the atmosphere and how demanding and brusque my boss is. So, last week, I started applying for jobs and was contacted by a recruiter within a few days, had a meeting with her yesterday, and now I have a possible interview next week. When I told her what's been happening at my current job, she was super validating and observed that my boss is never going to find an assistant that pleases him, that I'm being disrespected, and that there's nothing wrong with wanting my job to fit me as a person.

Your boss sounds terrible, surely as long as you do your job your personality shouldn't be an issue?  Is your role one which requires someone who needs to more outgoing - no offence meant but are you dealing with the public eg in sales or something similar etc where perhaps he thinks you're not outgoing enough?  He still shouldn't have said what he said though - he's not good at dealing with people himself by the sound of it - your recruiter lady sounds much more sensible!  Good luck with the interview!

Echo, fingers crossed that you get an interview soon. :D:empathy:

Hugs to Noll and a proxy hug to Caron. :empathy:

I had a really helpful hospital appt this week with the tinnitus specialist ; I`ve had tinnitus for years, but it`s been so bad for a while now, and it turns out that I`ve lost some of my hearing, too, which doesn`t help. Anyway, the specialist showed me some apps and some sound therapy machines for tinnitus, and I`ve downloaded some free apps for my Kindle Fire to try out ( if anyone`s interested, they`re these Sound Oasis ones - also helpful for insomnia - Amazon. ) What I`ve been using though, has been rain/thunderstorm `videos` on Youtube - like this one ). :)  My cat has been quite interested, sniffing at the Kindle and having a listen. :giggle2:

Too bloody right. Your boss sounds like a complete arsehole. What he is basically saying is that you are not allowed to be yourself as it doesn't please him. There's a word for that and it's called bullying. You will be much better off away from that sort of atmosphere and can do so much better.

Your boss sounds like a nasty piece of work! What a mean thing to say, very disrespectful. I hope you will feel much better at a new job :empathy:. I hope you'll get an interview soon :).

I'm glad you had a good appointment and that the videos and apps help you :). Awww so cute of your cat :giggle2:.

This weekend my parents, Michael and I, visited my sister and her fiance's new house. We talked with them for a while and we saw the house with all their stuff in it. I'd only seen it before when they were doing the painting, before they moved in and had all their stuff in it. It was nice to spend some time with my family.

I've been feeling pretty tired the past few days and have had trouble concentrating. I went on a shopping trip a few days ago with Michael (which was fun, we got some new clothes) and then this weekend visiting family, so I'm going to try to rest some these next few days and hope I feel better soon.

I'm still sort of recovering from my 40th party on Saturday night. We had it at a local bar where we know the owners and it was really good fun. :D

Happy (belated) birthday! I'm glad you had a great party :D. I hope you can rest a bit from it :).

Yikes, that's awful Echo. Sorry to hear that. As you know I too am an introvert (I'm sure many here are!) and if anyone told me I had to stop being one here I'd be royally peed off. Good luck with the possible interview.

I haven't been around much again as my dog got hit by a car. Some of you already know from Facebook. She will be okay, but it's gonna be a long painful recovery. Finding out tomorrow if she needs skin grafts on her leg. So stressed out, she's such a sensitive soul and I hate that she's in constant pain and doesn't understand what's happening. It happened last Sunday, and the not knowing led to us thinking about worst case scenarios, so we were worried overnight that she'd die of shock, and when that didn't happen on Monday we were afraid she'd have to have her leg amputated, then when they said that was likely off the table, we were worried about skin grafts but got the impression the vet was hopeful that wet-to-dry bandages (support in regeneration of tissue) would be sufficient, so we relaxed a bit on Tuesday. We also got to see her Tuesday, and of course she was upset and sore, but bright enough, so that helped us relax too. Then then yesterday the vet rang saying she still isn't sure about two areas of skin on the leg which are black, but seem to have a blood supply, and will make a decision on skin grafts on Friday (tomorrow). So I'm stressed again about which direction it will go, and what it will mean in terms of Penny's recovery time and experience.

Hoping to go see her tomorrow and chat with the vet.

I hope your dog's alright Noll - and that both of you are too. It sounds like a stressful time.

I have had another busy week at work but have enjoyed playing with some new toys, which will no doubt make me sound incredibly sad. We are coming to the end of our financial year and because we hadn't spent all of our cleaning budget my boss suggested that we get some more new machinery, as if we don't spend it then next year they will take it away. So I suggested a cordless vacuum cleaner, a new carpet cleaner (my female cleaner who has a shoulder injury finds it really difficult to use our current one) and a good steam mop. I haven't tried the carpet cleaner yet but the other two are brilliant - there is a shortage of plugs where I work so having a cordless vac is brilliant - I can take it all over the place - the toilets, the stairs and so on without worrying about cables trailing everywhere and trying to find a plug. As for the steam mop - it's fantastic. It's a constant problem with people walking on wet floors, but not now, as steam dries instantly and also disinfects. If we can get some more money together I want to order a load so that each department has their own one!

It's the Easter weekend now though which means 4 days off. The weather doesn't look brilliant, but I have to go to Guildford tomorrow to stock up on Lush goodies, and to get a new pair of walking shoes as mine are no longer waterproof. On Saturday I am going to another opera - one of my favourites, Cosi fan Tute and on Monday Coran and I are both having a nice relaxing massage. I suspect I will also spend a lot of time in bed reading - starting in about 10 minutes!  :):readingtwo:
