I worked last weekend, so I've the day off today.  Was hoping for a day out, but OH needs me to take a load of rubbish to the tip, and it's heavy stuff so I can't go on my own, and means I have to fit in with his schedule.

Still, will hopefully have the rest of the weekend free, so might try and do something more interesting then!

I wish you a good weekend :).

That's hot Athena, we had that a couple of weeks ago and it was horrible, especially at night.  It's cooled down a bit here now, and we had a storm yesterday evening, bit breezier today.

It was hot! I'm glad it's a bit breezier for you today. It's still hot here today, but they predict it will cool down in a few days, so I'm holding them to it! I've opened up the windows and will leave them open for a little while longer, until it gets too hot outside, then I'll shut them again. But for now it's hotter inside than outside, so.

We are going to be in England, Scotland and Ireland for a little over 2 weeks.  Last night we managed to book our car hire in Ireland for 3 days, our ferry tickets from Holyhead to Dublin, and our airline tickets from Cork to Heathrow, which is the day before we come home.  We are pretty much doing a big clockwise circle of travel.  We still have most of the hotels to book, but have so far booked B&Bs in Derby and Southampton.  Oh, and we booked rooms in Melville Castle in Edinburgh for a night!  We're very excited!

Have fun organizing your books, Athena, and you as well with the rubbish, Chesil!  I hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

It sounds like a great trip :)!

Thanks, Peacefield :).

This weekend I plan to do some chores, to catalogue books and to continue re-organising my book collection.

I wish everyone a great weekend :)!

Last weekend I had a gig singing at a 60th wedding anniversary, so I did all stuff from the 50s and 60s and wore a 50s style dress, complete with net underskirts (which are uncomfortable and scratchy - I don't know how women wore those things all the time back then!).

Josh's sports day got cancelled due to bad weather, which was a shame, because it would have been his first one. Xander's was yesterday and he came first in the egg and spoon race (he ran like the wind and never dropped the egg even once - I couldn't believe it!), 2nd in the sprint (he was up against the fastest kid in his year, who happens to be one of the fastest kids in the whole school!), and third in the sack race. We missed the first half hour because I got my times wrong, so we missed the sack race - totally gutted!

Tomorrow we have Grom coming round for Sunday dinner, so I'm spending today doing loads of housework (which I hate!).

Next Saturday is my cousin's wedding. I managed to find the perfect outfit last week, so I'm all set, because it even goes well with some shoes and a matching bag I already had - awesome!

Drove down to Chesil Beach today, spending the morning wandering around the shop and market in Bridport, before heading down to the beach itself at Burton Bradstock.  Glorious day, enough breeze to keep it from getting too hot, and had a smashing time.

Shame about Josh's sports day. I'm glad Xander had a great time, he did really well!

I'm glad you had a good time at the beach.

Yesterday I did some chores, today I don't have to do as much of that (but still some). I've got plans to phone with my sister later. I also plan to work more on the re-organisation of my book collection.

Hey y'all!

I spent yesterday making lists and re- packing the kids and my suitcases. The first trip to Texas was by plane and I was under packed. The second trip was in and out. This trip I will be there a few weeks and I'm driving so I can take what I need. I also got the budget taken care of, got the bills ready to be paid. I think today I'll detail my truck. Tomorrow I'll get an oil change and by Thursday/Friday we're on the road.

In between the prep the kids have dental and eye appointments, a trip to the zoo and the water park.

Life is about to get REALLY busy!

What a wonderful weekend, lovely weather, a bit of weeding, washing clothes and a bit of tidying but got to sit outside for quite long spells with a cool drink and good books.

Makes going to work worth it.

Detailed my SUV yesterday and I'm really happy with the results. I actually do a better job than the guys at the car wash. I'm very picky and have been known to go behind them and tell them they missed a spot. I also picked up a rooftop cargo carrier for my trip to Texas and cleaned, disinfected my cooler. Everything not essential is packed away. Later today I need to go drop off a ton of library books/video/audio. Tomorrow are dental appointments and I have to go pick up some preemie baby clothes I found for sale and some cowgirl boots I fell in love with!

This week is just about getting appointments out the way and getting my Pathfinder road ready. I plan to get some reading in inbetween.

Worked loads of extra hours this week, so took the day off today.  A long walk through the city in the early morning, then coffee and my book for a break before heading to the cinema to see Baby Driver for a second time, and even more enjoyable this time around.  An alfresco lunch, then a visit with my Dad before home and an indulgent glass of cider while the tennis is on.  A pretty much perfect day.

Coran and I have had a good weekend. We went into Guildford yesterday to stock up on Lush goodies among other things and had a nice lunch in Pizza Express. They really are brilliant as they now do both vegan and gluten free pizzas. Neither of us are of course vegan, but having now tried their new vegan pizza we both agree that is it our new favourite.

This morning we went for a walk up the viewpoint at Box Hill, which we haven't done for a while even though it is only a mile and a half from home. This afternoon we had a Game of Thrones fest in preparation for the new series tomorrow night, which we are both really looking forward to. I am also looking forward to seeing a lot of the places in Croatia in September where it was filmed.

I had a busy weekend, we went into town, to the optician's where I bought new glasses, and I went into a few shops, and to the library. My sister and her boyfriend came by this weekend, I spent some time with them. My dad and my boyfriend also fixed the last bookcase in my room / library, and my boyfriend and I spent some time with my parents. We also had dinner with the four of us.

Traveled to Virginia last Thursday to visit my mom. I took the little people with me. We had a lovely time family. I got us back home yesterday afternoon. Today will be spent getting back into a routine, some housekeeping, reading and studying. I also need to go grocery shopping.

Sounds like you all had lovely weekends.  Talisman, what did you think of the GoT premiere?

I met with my friends over the weekend so we could finalize all of our trip plans.  All airline tickets, 10 hotels, and 2 car rentals are now booked.  We just have a few extra things to get like tickets for Chatsworth, Eilean Donan castle, and exhibit tickets at the Dublin Natl Gallery of Art.  We're very excited that there will be a ver Meer show going on while we're there :).

Hey y'all!

Its about to storm here which means I've got 5 little people stuck inside. Not much going on. I've decided to take the kids back to Texas next Wednesday. I'll stay a couple of days and then head back home to my life. Its been fun and I enjoy having them but I really have to get things done as we are moving at the end of the year. I have somehow pushed all the plans to the back and need the motivation to get back on the ball.

Yes it was a nice weekend Peacefield. As to what I thought about GOT - it seemed to pass in a bit of a blur if I am honest. It usually takes me a few episodes to get into a new series as it gradually grows on me. One thing I do know though is that I like the new Sansa - she has really matured since marrying that horrible man - which isn't surprising I suppose.

Coran and I have another interesting weekend ahead - this Saturday we are going to Trans Pride in Brighton. This is an annual event for the transgender community (Coran is of course trans), which last year was great fun. Everyone walks along the seafront to a small square near Hove which is where the afternoons event takes place. They usually have stalls from trans organisations (one of whose websites' Coran has helped to design, so it is important for her to be there), with talks and workshops going on, among other things - and of course a beer tent. I asked the woodwork tutor at work to make me a placard which will carry an interesting and challenging message (to some at least anyway) and we have had some special t shirts designed as well for us to wear. I just hope the rain stays away.

I have 11 days off work as kids have broken up for the summer so determined to try and catch up here and do some reading - but no buying! I only work three days a week but I constantly seem to be chasing my tail and not getting everything done, let alone much for pleasure. Still, I mustn't complain, I've only been back from Amsterdam for a couple of weeks and in 4 weeks we are off to Croatia.

Unfortunately I am still suffering with my knee, the MRI showed that I have ruptured my anterior cruciate ligament, along with a torn meniscus and sprained collateral ligament and a tiny compression fracture to my tibia, not good, but my doctor is hoping that it can be sorted by physiotherapy but he isn't too confident. :( Still, I can still walk the dogs, if just a bit slower so it could be much, much worse!

I hope everyone else is well and having a good summer, or winter if you're on the other side of the world. :friends3:

That sounds bad about the knee, are you wearing a support on it or anything?

Hope the rain stays off, forecast for the west country and south isn't that good for today so hope it clears.

I heard the first mention of the "C" word yesterday - our walking group chair was talking about organising the usual meal, there are normally about 40 of us so it does need to be booked up early, but still.....!

Last day of school today for my eldest. I can't believe how fast that year has gone! :o We stuffed his book bag with little pressies & cards for the teachers and teaching assistants with the hope that they'll actually pick them up as it's so bulky. :D He goes to before & after club Tue-Fri, so we generally have to hope they pick stuff up from his bag rather than being able to hand it over to a teacher directly.

So from next week it's Mondays at home with me & Ellie, and 4 days a week at Warwick Uni holiday club. Hopefully he'll enjoy that. :) Then we have 2 weeks off work at the end of August to all spend together. That seems a loonng time away!

Hope everyone has nice weekends/trips/time off work & hope the knee gets better soon, Charliepud!

Chalie, sorry to hear about your knee, I hope the physio helps.

Nothing much to report here. It was my second monthiversary (officially, though we've pretty much been together closer to 5 months) with my partner yesterday, so we're using that as an excuse to go out for dinner tomorrow evening.

Also hoping to submit my final assignment for my Medical Terminology/Admin course this weekend. I'll still have a lot to study from it, but the coursework will be done. Then on to Business Administration Skills, which should be interesting. Both are online modules - looking forward to starting the night modules and day modules in September/October (assuming I successfully get into my course and social welfare don't complain). By Autumn next year I should have a major award in office/business admin with a specialisation in medical admin and 13 accredited modules under my belt (plus two unaccredited)!

Happy weekend everyone :)

Sorry to hear about the knee - that sounds painful. I hope it will at least a bit better before you go to Croatia. I am going there myself at the end of September (this time of year is too hot for me), so I will be interested to hear what you think about it. What part are you going to?

I thought you meant the other C word there for a minute - until I realised you must be referring to a certain religious festival at the end of the year! I don't want to even think about that until at least November.

Happy anniversary Noll - and good luck with all the studying.

I for one am very glad indeed to finish work for the week. I have worked really hard these past few days. Lots of the clients are moving around to different flats at the moment, so I had to deep clean one of them this week, shampoo another 2 carpets and scrub the kitchen floor, as well as the usual day to day stuff that needs doing. I will be glad when my lady cleaner is back to work after her op - that won't be for at least another month though. She came in for a visit on Wednesday and seems okay. She is a bit sore though as the stiches had just come out. I think she is getting a bit bored at home with not much to do and I can't day I blame her.

Coran and I have just got back from Trans Pride in Brighton - and despite the rain (which was torrential at times), it was great. We all marched from the Marlborough Pub down the seafront to Brunswick Park near Hove, about 2 miles away. Lots of people were taking pictures and asking me about the sign I was carrying - which was of course the whole point, to make people think, although with most on the march with us I think I was probably preaching to the converted. The sign, which was laminated in all the different colours of the rainbow read "I am neither L G or B, but my Trans wife suits me to a T. My only label is lucky". People tend to make assumptions I find when they realise that I am a woman married to a trans woman that I must be either L or B, which I do not consider myself to be. Like the sign says, I prefer not to label myself, but if I have to I would say I am lucky.

The sign started a few interesting conversations, including one with Irish TV company RTE who wanted to interview us for a documentary they are doing to be shown next year. You may then see us on Irish TV at some point.

I've had a brilliant start to my week off. :smile2:  Friday was my third trip to the cinema to watch Baby Driver (and I might yet squeeze in one more viewing later in the week :giggle2:), then yesterday I met up with Janet and Poppyshake for lunch which lasted about three hours! :D  Today I went out for brunch, then coffee while I finished my book, then stopped off to see my Dad for an hour.  Now at home for an afternoon of doing very little ... hoping to catch up with some reviews here and update my book lists, maybe watch a film on the telly this evening.

No fixed plans for the rest of the week, but there are a couple of new films I might go and see, there's a greek cafe I want to try out, and I'm hoping to get at least two more Wainwright Prize books finished, plus I'm sure OH has some errands for me to run while I'm off work.
