Been out for a walk this morning, with a coffee and a read en route.  Planning on having a quiet day at home before it's back to work tomorrow after a week off.

I'm glad you had a nice day, Chesil. Good luck again at work.

Coran and I arrived on Guernsey just after 1pm yesterday and jumped straight on the bus to our accommodation. It's a lovely little apartment complex with the apartments all facing inwards around the communal swimming pool, and very cosy.

The first day is always spent settling in, but today we walked along the coast to St Peter Port and spent the day exploring the gardens and some of the museum's there. We had a lovely lunch in a Chinese restaurant with a special gluten free menu, which was pretty impressive, but also expensive. It was worth it though. We walked almost 8.5 miles today so my calves will be feeling it later on.

I'm glad your journey went well and that you're having a good time :).

Yesterday I spent a lot of time with my parents and Michael. I also spoke with both my sister and my brother. Today I plan to rest, as I feel quite exhausted lately (been doing a lot, for me).

All packed ready for the off on Wednesday.  Away for 6 days in the Blackpool area of Lancashire.  Just as well driving there as taking that many clothes for the "just in case scenario".  But whatever the weather will enjoy being out in the open air and going for long walks.

Hey y'all!

Just spending my last day helping dd around the house and hanging out with my grands. Tomorrow afternoon I am headed back home. Can't say I won't be glad to go. I loved being here but its always a strain being a house guest. I want to be back on my own schedule doing my own thing and being in my own quiet space, lol! I also miss my four legged girl, Kizzy.

So, today will be spent repacking, a little housekeeping and hanging out.

We have an absolutely stunning cockerel that lives on our street. Not sure where he comes from because he wanders around and sings the song of his people. There have even been neighbours asking if he is ours.

He is so handsome though :smile2:

I've nicknamed him Rocky

He sounds so cute :)! I hope he'll be okay, living on the street. Perhaps he used to live with someone but he ran away or they chucked him out.

My mum said something similar of how she wondered if somebody had him either before he hatched or before they could tell his sex. Oh that makes me sad if that's the case. Not his fault! I haven't seen him for a few days only heard him but he did look healthy.

Thanks Gaia!

Had a lovely two weeks with the dd's and grands, now I'm back home and with my routine. Two weeks is no vacation when you have to worry about transportation, can't stick with your healthy diet and just the overall not having your own time. I was with someone for 14 days straight. Not used to that at all!

No, that's totally not his fault! I'm glad he looked healthy :).

Two weeks ago husband and I headed across to Normandy for 4 nights. We had a wonderful time, walking around and through one historical place after another (William the Conqueror's Caen, Henry the 5th's Harfleur and Greville, Joan of Arc's Rouen, Bayeaux (and it's Tapestry), and the Island of Mont St Michel. We also managed to accidentally catch the Whitsun parade at the coastal town of Honfleur. It was a truly lovely 3 days of wide eyes and smiling.

We had inadvertently booked to be in the area at the same time as the commemoration of the Normandy Landings,  so did not properly visit the landing beaches, but we plan on returning when we can,as there is only so much you can see in 3 days. :)

It was back to normal on our return, and this weekend we are spending Saturday with my parents (I'm making and taking lunch), and on Sunday husband is apparently going to be doing some D.I.Y., something I am looking forward to witnessing. :D

I hope all are well and happy. Have a great weekend.

Coran and I are nearing the end of our week on Guernsey - tomorrow lunchtime we get the catamaran to Jersey for another week.

We have loved being here and exploring the island. It is just the right size and easy to get around with a great bus service. We have managed to see a lot, although of course there is still much that we haven't seen. Highlights have been the beaches and walks around the west coast, a beautiful day on Herm, visiting the local Guernsey trans group, and of course the delicious food.

It will be interesting at the end of next week to see which of the 2 islands we prefer.

Had today off work which was nice, managed to take our guest dog for a walk as it was cooler, did some food shopping and had tea in the garden.  Meant to be very hot over the weekend so probably won't do much.

Hey y'all!

Looks like I'm headed BACK to El Paso, Texas next week. DD was admitted into the hospital the same day I left. Her church and sister have done as much as they can what with her being to ill and her husband being away on a job (he works on turbines throughout the country). My mother wants all five of the kids while she gets better, gives birth, heals and then moves into their new house (all by the end of next month). So, I'm driving out there to pick them up. If I flew them out I'd be able to afford a personal jet. So, I'll drive 1628 miles each way (23 hours) pick them up and head back home where they will stay with us a few days then we'll deliver them to my mom in Virginia.

Nearly the weekend!

Anybody got any plans? Not much for me but of course Father's Day on Sunday so will be having my dad's mum and dad over. Might try and make some chocolates or truffles.

It sounds like you had a great time in Normandy :). I wish you a great weekend too!

Good luck with your road trip!

It's Father's Day tomorrow here too. I'm planning to have a nice dinner with my parents and my boyfriend this weekend and to spend some time with them. I'm also going into town this weekend.

I wish everyone a great weekend :)!

That is one major Road Trip Virginia! :o Safe travels for all those merry miles. :)

Thanks Chrissy. The baby was taken by emergency c-section yesterday. She's stable and tiny being born at 33 weeks gestation. She wasn't due till 3 August.

Had a smashing day today.  Up early into town, a quick coffee and a read before heading over to the harbour side and had a lovely long walk and managed to have a look at the new area that's been created out of converted shipping containers into small businesses mainly focusing on food and drink.  The cheesemonger I used to visit in town has moved over there, so it was nice to see her new shop, and also have a wander around.  As it was a gorgeous day, I couldn't resist sampling the wares in the shop specialising in chocolates and gelato, so I treated myself to a gelato, tasting the dolce latte and Italian custard flavours.  So, so good!

Made the walk a circular one and headed back into town for lunch, then did some shopping on the way home before having another walk up to the local shops to get a few bits and pieces.  Back home now for a pizza for tea and a quiet evening in.

Hope everyone else is enjoying their weekend! :D

Hope the baby is okay Virginia. I am sorry that I haven't been following other people's news like I usually do at home. It is much more difficult to read and edit everything on a small phone screen than a large desktop.

Coran and I though arrived on Jersey this afternoon. The ferry crossing was smooth and uneventful. Coran has managed really well I have to say with the travelling and all the walking we have done. We have averaged probably 7 or 8 miles a day, with 9.5 on Herm.

We have settled into the new flat though and will go out exploring tomorrow around St Helier. There is certainly a lot to do here. Today is Corans birthday and also our 20th anniversary, so we are planning a celebratory lunch for tomorrow, which we are both looking forward to.

I wish Coran a happy birthday and you both a happy 20th anniversary :)! I hope you have a great time in Jersey :).

Yesterday was a pretty good day for me. I did some food shopping in a special shop in town (not a supermarket) and got myself a nice new notebook too (to write in), and I went to the library because they are having a sale. I got some (hopefully) nice books :D. I also had a nice dog walk with my parents and I had a great dinner with my parents and my boyfriend. I am feeling pretty tired from it all now, so today and the next few days will probably be spent trying to rest. Today it's Father's Day and I plan on spending some more time with my dad (but also with my mum).

It's Father's Day here too! We had a lovely lunch with my parents yesterday, and I took chocolates and a card. I will 'phone my Dad later too.

Aside from that we are planning a super quiet day - my husband's D.I.Y. plans are on hold as it is already very warm here.
