chaliepud
Since I started paleo/primal/clean eating I have become more aware of ingredients; before, if someone asked me my favourite food I would have said something that had alread been put together, eg pie, a roast, even bread, but now I would reply eggs, or maybe beetroot, something I can use with something else to make a delicious meal or snack. This got me wondering what would be everyone elses favourite ingredients, non-processed of course! Maybe name 10, if you can stop there of course!! Mine would be, Eggs Kale and baby spinach Potato Beetroot Salmon, smoked haddock, mackerel, most fish actually - need to eat more! Minced beef Grass fed butter Chicken Goats cheese or feta Leeks and onions Avocado, at least half a day! Coconut and avocado oils Coconut aminos Furikake, though technically it is processed, it is healthy! Would love to chat with any other clean eaters, or wannabes! bobblybear
My favourite foods that we always have in the house are: Eggs (can't live without them) Butter Green beans Kale Cheese (usually smoked or blue, but any will do) Potatoes Meat (usually chicken) I love avocado but rarely have them in the house because I can never get them at the correct ripeness! We don't subscribe to any particular way of eating, but most of our meals are made from scratch. We have salads 2 to 3 times a week, which has helped both of us lose weight. vodkafan
Salmon or mackerel Red Peppers Orange baby snack peppers Tomatoes Carrots Eggs Bananas Apples Oranges Cheese Onions Milk Bio yoghurt These are the things I always have fresh in my house, so eat every day, but I get things like broccolli, kale and chicken or minced beef in for specific meals when the kids are with me. Onion Budgie
I always keep my cupboards/fridge well stocked with these staples: Broccoli Kale Bell peppers Corn on the cob Carrots Brussels sprouts Button mushrooms Walnuts Almonds Green lentils Red lentils Beans of every description! (chickpea, black bean, pinto, kidney, etc.) Sunflower seeds Soya milk Potatoes Garlic Eggs I cook most every meal from scratch. Sometimes I'll cheat with a shop-bought veggie burger, or a Tesco nut cutlet, but I far prefer to make things myself. It simply tastes better! The staples I like to keep in are: Eggs Chicken Onions Mushrooms Peppers Stock cubes Carrots Tomatoes Cucumber Melon Yogurts and black pepper I try not to eat too much meat and certainly don't eat red meat, but I think if you have got eggs, onions and mushrooms in you are never stuck for a meal. frankie
What an interesting topic There seem to be a lot of egg lovers here! I don't have any staples in that I would always have some particular product, always and forever, but these are the ones I love: red bell pepper onion potato (I love potato but hardly ever have any at home ) milk (this I actually always have to have in the fridge) coffee ( ) avocado (more recently become a favorite) oat (for porridge. Actually this I don't love as much, but this is a staple) oil baby spinach (my new love) Edited January 31, 2017 by frankie
