bobblybear
Welcome to my book thread for 2017! I'm keeping things very similar to my previous threads over the years. The only things I am leaving out (from last years thread) are my Wishlist books (because I just never update it, and it's there on Amazon anyway) and my very neglected 'Short-list of books to read next (constantly updated)'. I only updated it once or twice, and so much for being a short-list.....most of the books that were on there at the start of the year were still on there at the end of it. Putting this thread together, I just can't believe how many unread books I have on my Kindle from years ago. Pre-2012: 25 2012: 58 2013: 40 2014: 49 2015: 70 2016: 51 I need to make a concerted effort to get through some of the older ones, and I'll keep my original count here so at the end of the year I can see how much progress (if any) I have made. 2016 was spent mostly reading library books, so I hardly made a dent in my Kindle books. I'm going to keep the same rating system as last year as I think it works quite well. 1/6: It was awful!!!2/6: It was readable, but I didn't enjoy it all that much3/6: It was ok4/6: I really liked it5/6: It was amazing - I loved it!6/6: Simply outstanding - on my 'best of all time' list I managed to read 71 books last year, which is a record for me. It's probably due to me not having to do any studying from February onwards, and I think I ended up reading about 15 books more than my usual average. I don't have any strict goals about the number of books I'd like to read in 2017, but it would be nice to read more than I did in 2016. No other goals.....if I see a book that I really want, then I will buy it (hopefully guilt-free ). But I really want to get through some of my older Kindle books. Oh, and my tree-book TBR pile isn't fully up to date. I had a bit of a purge last year, and took a load to the charity shop, so there are some on my list that probably aren't on my bookshelf, but my bookshelf is all a-jumble at the moment. I'm going to do another cleanout of tree-books and will update the list when that is done. Anyway, happy reading in 2017 everyone. Feel free to post! bobblybear
Happy New Year to you too, Anna! I can't help worrying about my books - there's just so many of them. Maybe I should aim to keep my TBR pile to under 300.

chesilbeach
Hope you have another good reading year, bobblybear. Although a big TBR is daunting, at least when it's on the Kindle it doesn't take up shelf space!

bobblybear
Thanks all. I've already bought 5 books this year.
poppyshake
Happy Reading in 2017 Bobbs and well done for buying 5 books already We're all book addicts it's just that sometimes we pretend to be in control of it .. you're just being more honest about it Don't stress about the old TBR .. just pick bits off of it when you feel like it. That's what I'm going to do. I'm beyond being shamed about it now Most of yours are on Kindle so they're taking up no actual space whatsover ... clever .. you never feel threatened by a tottering, dusty, pile Hope you have a great reading year
