Dark Chocolate

Do any forum members like dark chocolate. I am in love with it. I only eat the 85% and 90% dark chocolate. However, occasionally I will eat a little of the 72%. My favorite is probably Lindt although I also like most others. The health benefits of dark chocolate are pretty good if eaten in moderation. I usually eat 2 squares a day.

I've honestly tried to like dark chocolate. The only way I can really enjoy it is when its wrapped around caramel or milk chocolate. Its just too bitter for me. I just get so disgusted because I know its supposed to be good for me but its the same with red wine. I don't like it as its too bitter. Whodathunkit? Two of my favorite things and I don't like them. lol!! :P

I love dark chocolate in the 70% range but find the very dark ones rather bitter. But how do you stop at only two pieces??? :icon_eek: Such self-control! :D

I admit it is difficult to stop at 2 squares but since I eat it almost every day (right after dinner) I must control the quantity or the calories will overcome the benefits. :D

Not an expert on the subject but I believe anything 70% or over is good for you.

There's a really nice dark chocolate pepperment one made by Cadbury's that I love, but since I can do without ANY extra calories, I resist the temptation to buy it :blush2:

I am like you muggle in that I love dark chocolate. My preference is Green and Blacks, or anything with chilli in it. Like you, it has to be the really good stuff. There is no way I could stop at 2 squares though !

I don't often eat chocolate on its own, but my parents eat the Lindt chocolate 85% pure. I've tried that one and it's nice. I have tried the 99% one too but that one is way too bitter (my parents agree, they much prefer the 85%). But I don't often eat chocolate anymore. I used to eat it more, but the past year or so I haven't really felt like it.

I like Green and Blacks but still prefer Lindts of all the dark chocolates that I have tried.

I am with your parents, the Lindts 85% is my favorite but Lindts also has a 90% that is good. I usually mix one square of the 85% and one square of the 90% (a bite of each). :)

With Virginia on this, way too bitter for me.

Try one square at a time.

I suspect that it is much less than the 70% dark chocolate. :) But, Christmas is almost on us....splurge. :)

Seem to be in the minority here, but never been a big fan of dark chocolate. Milk all the way for me. (Not really surprised considering that's the type that's bad for you.)

I think you acquire a taste for darker chocolate as you get older.  I never used to like it as a child, but now, I quite enjoy a little bit of good quality dark chocolate.

I've got a bar of Green & Black's Mint chocolate in the fridge - it's not quite what I was expecting, as their Mint used to be like a bar of After Eight's with a mint fondant in dark chocolate squares, but this new one is a dark chocolate with a mint oil infused in it.  Still nice, just not what I'd wanted when I bought it!  I can only eat a couple of squares at a time, but that's all good. :D

Oh no I still don't like it, mind you I'm finding some brands of milk chocolate pretty sickly now (including, I have to say, Cadbury's since the US started making it, sorry guys, nothing personal!).

I am so pleased to hear that you are finding chocolate sickly as well, I thought it was just me.

Sorry don't mean that how it sounds.

I only have to have a couple of bites of a bar of chocolate and I start coughing.  Never used to.

I guess that is the reason I like it so well (I may be the oldest person here) :). I have two squares almost every day. last night after dinner I had 3 squares of a 88% dark chocolate and it was delicious. This was a new bar that I haven't had before and the squares were much smaller (18 squares in a bar). Lindt though is still my favorite although I sometimes buy what is on sale amongst Lindt, Black and Green, Cadbury, etc.
