gcon22
I have a friend who's looking for a book to read. She is interested in mystery/spy/criminal/forensic subjects and that is also her career goals. She loves watching Criminal Minds. I think something that is realistic would tickle her fancy. If it can happen in real life, she can relate or be deeper in thought when reading. Her English isn't too strong, so perhaps something that isn't overwhelmingly hard to read. (I'd say elementary/middle school level would be too easy, and something like Tolkien would be way too hard). But she is always willing push herself to improve her English reading/writing/speaking. She graduated High School with honors and got A's in her English classes. She is 25 years old. Sex, gore, and violence is fine. Do you have any recommendations on a great book she might enjoy reading? Thanks.
MrCat
Hello and welcome to the forums. I'd say Agatha Christie is a good choice if she like detective novels. Her books are not hard to read and they are quite good detective stories. The stories are a little dated but still enjoyable. Rebecca by Daphne Du Muriel is a great mistery novel. The Maltese Falcon is the classic default detective novel but I did not like it very much. There's also a lot of hype around Gone Girl but I have not read it. The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco is a good detective/mistery novel but it might not be so easy to read.
chaliepud
Tess Gerritsen's Rizzoli and Isles series may fit the bill. Lots of murder and forensics.
Madeleine
Kathy Reichs and Patricia Cornwell also have a lot of forensic material.
