Greeny
I would like to ask you whether you know about any romance books where the heroine is mute, with two additional details:1) She is not deaf (i. e. hears perfectly, just doesn't speak) 2) No cop-out at the end (i. e. she doesn't start speaking) Thank you in advance! Raven
There's always Stingray! They must have done some books!
poppy
The Piano by Jane Campion and Kate Pullinger is excellent. This was writtten about the movie of the same name (also excellent), directed by Campion. Excerpt from Wiki A mute Scotswoman named Ada McGrath is sold by her father into marriage to a New Zealand frontiersman named Alisdair Stewart, bringing her young daughter Flora with her. The voice that the audience hears in the opening narration is "not her speaking voice, but her mind's voice". Ada has not spoken a word since she was six years old and no one, including herself, knows why. She expresses herself through her piano playing and through sign language, for which her daughter has served as the interpreter.
Greeny
Thank you! However, in The Piano, Ada does begin to speak at the end of the story. I'm interested in stories where it doesn't happen.
page turner
There's the Bitterbynde trilogy by Cecilia Dart-Thornton. I read it many moons ago so can't remember much about it, but the main character was mute. Good luck with your search
