On a whim, I've started reading Marie Kondo's The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up. I noticed early on that she likes to repeat herself a lot, so I'm more skim-reading it so I can just take away the most important bits.

Yesterday I purchased an omnibus of Phillip K Dick's, so far, have read Minority Report and Beyond Lies the Wub. I am finding that I need a companion to it, so I went radically different and picked A Farewell to Arms.

I finished I Know This Much is True by Wally Lamb.  I think I enjoyed it, although it did seem to drag a bit sometimes, especially the bits about his grandfather.

It's a very chunky book!! I really liked it when I read it last year. I keep seeing another one of his at the library, but as they are usually heavy reading I need to be in the right mood to borrow it.

I finished Revival and started Finders Keepers, also by Stephen King.

I thought Revival was just ok, and I haven't read Finders Keepers yet. I'm waiting for it to become available at the library.

I'm now reading To Rise Again at a Decent Hour by Joshua Ferris. I'm finding it a bit odd and a bit too rambling for my liking. I shall stick with it, as it's not bad, it just needs dedication!!

I went to the library yesterday and borrowed Micro by Micheal Crichton and Richard Preston, and Bleeding Edge by Thomas Pynchon. Once I finish my current read, I want to read a few Kindle books. I've been completely neglecting my Kindle in favour of library books. :thud:

It is that! I nearly gave up 40-50 pages in I think, but then something clicked and I loved it.

I finished Behind Closed Doors by B. A. Paris. Good, not amazing. Enjoyed it.

Now reading All The Birds In The Sky by Charlie Jane Anders, which I am absolutely loving (so far!)

It has picked up again, and I'm only 50 or so pages from the end so I will stick with it. It's a very odd book......the long rambling passages about the religion don't interest me, but the details of the main character's life does (like his dentistry, even though it's a bit gross!).

Finished the latest Wells and Wong Mystery from Robin Stevens called Jolly Foul Play yesterday and it was spiffing!  Great to be back at Deepean School, and another cracking murder mystery from our schoolgirl detectives.

Thought I'd read my library reading group book for this month next, but after 40 pages I'm so bored, I can't bear to read any more.  I know why it is, it's because there is little plot but I don't like the style either, and I've giving up now.

It is Outline by Rachel Cusk. It's got great reviews and was shortlisted for one of the big prizes, it's just not my sort of book :(

I've just had a look on Amazon and it doesn't sound like my sort of thing either.  It has very mixed reviews on there so you're not alone.

I finished Chapter 18 of North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell on my walk home from work today.  That's about a third of the way through.   I'm also on P50 of my re-read of Cold Comfort Farm by Stella Gibbons,  I wasn't going to read it again even though it's a book club book (I was going to skim read it) but I decided to read it properly.

I'm still re-reading James Clemens - The Banned and the Banished 2: Wit'ch Storm but I haven't read much in it the past few days. I've been reading it for 5 days (minus today) and I'm only on page 124. I've been busy with other things and I haven't really felt in the reading mood. I hope to read a lot in it today. After this book though, I plan to pick a book to read that is new to me, maybe that will help.

I am reading Some Kind of Wonderful by Sarah Morgan at work which is easy reading material.

Was away this weekend and went into Waterstones oh I do love shopping for books when I have the time, and I had the time.  Hubby went off somewhere leaving me in peace to shop.

Did you buy anything?

I started Dorothy Koomson - That Girl From Nowhere. I'm not giving up on Wit'ch Storm, but the past few days I haven't really felt in the mood to read it, so I thought I'd try to read a different book that I do feel in the mood for. Maybe I'll feel more like reading Wit'ch Storm in a little while, or maybe after I finish this book. I don't like to read two books at once, but I thought it would be better if at least I was reading something I felt in the mood to read.

I've been listening to The Woman In White by Wilkie Collins - it's very good, but very long!  It's such a detailed analysis of the story, but fortunately it's told from different perspectives, so the audio book has various narrators which adds an extra element of interest.  I've listened to about 20 hours so far, so just another 7 to go! :D

I'm also reading the contemporary retelling of Sense and Sensibility by Joanna Trollope.  It's ok, but it feels like she's literally just put every scene into a modern setting without really doing anything with it.  That said, it's an easy read and I'm already about half way through, so I'll finish it, but I'm really just waiting for Curtis Sittenfeld's Eligible to come out next week which is the retelling of Pride and Prejudice from the same publisher.  I've actually decided to buy the hardback as I just don't want to wait a year for the paperback to come out!

Have tried for a good few days to get into Elena Ferrante's My Brilliant Friend but I just don't like it, I'm hugely disappointed as I had big hopes for it but hey ho, onto the next one, think I'll try In The Shadow of Blackbirds by Cat Winters. :)

What didn't you like about it chaliepud?  It's been on my radar for a while, so curious to hear other views on it.  I know someone who has read all her books and absolutely loves them, so I wonder if they are marmite books.

I'm not entirely sure, I definitely didn't like either of the two main characters, and the writing is a bit choppy, it doesn't flow or go anywhere and I do like a flowing, descriptive read. I've read some reviews that forgive her this as the content is so good but it didn't work for me. Maybe it would have been better in its original Italian but that definitely wouldn't work for me either! :D

Happy to send it to you if you want to give it a shot, it'll go to the charity shop next week otherwise.
