Great looking lists, there, Anna! :D

I'm looking forward to hearing what you think of The Last Runaway - I absolutely loved it!

Thanks!  I am looking forward it to, I've never read any Tracy Chevalier before.

I wish you lots of great reading in 2016, Anna :D! I look forward to read some books together with you :friends0:.

Me too!  We will have a good year :)  :friends0:

Happy reading! I love that you have so many books about royalty on your tbr. They're some fascinating people from history.

I love English history!  Philippa Gregory's novels are so yummy.

Happy reading year, Anna!

Interesting lists you have, I'll look forward to reviews! :)

Thanks!  I am still struggling if I want to continue reviewing all my books or just a few.

Nine and a Half Weeks- Elizabeth McNeill (118 pages)

The nights were palpable and fierce, razors, outlined so clearly as to be luminous.  A different country, it’s landscape and currency plain and heat, fear, cold, pleasure, hunger glut, plain, desire, overwhelming lust.

This is no 50 Shades of Grey, to be sure.  Both the female and male characters in this novella are unnamed… and for a good reason.  This sadomasochist relationship is a true story, written under a pen name to protect her then twelve year old daughter.  I don’t quite know what to say about this piece of writing, that says almost nothing, but a great deal at the same time.  It a short read, thankfully, but a toe curling one.  It was good, but I must complain about the Kindle price at 8 or 9 dollars for a 118 page novel.

Cornbread- Sean Hammer (23 pages)

This Kindle Single was good, well edited and thought out.  There were no twists, the plot is set out in the beginning of the first sentence

They call me Cornbread because that’s what my husband was eatin’ when I shot him in the face.

“Cornbread” goes on to tell the story of her relationship with her husband and the reasons behind this atrocious crime.  It reminded me of Daniel Woodrell’s writing- poverty stricken and plain in the backwoods- of Arkansas.

On Two Feet and Wings- Abbas Kazerooni (244 pages)

At the urging of his father, Abbas and his mother have decided to flee Iran during the Iran/ Iraq war.  Abbas is about to turn 10, and the Government is already recruiting boys as young as 8.

Part of an elite family under the Shah, the family now lives humbly and must sell everything to send the pair to Istanbul.  At the airport, Abbas learns he must travel on his own, and, as a 10 year old boy, attempt to acquire a visa from the British Consulate.

Along the way, Abbas uses pure intellect to make his way in Istanbul.  He meets friends on the way, but it’s Abbas himself that saves him.

I got an Amazon package in the mail this morning, an early birthday present for myself

An amazing edition of The Little House on the Prairie books (all 9 + some extras equal 1700 pages :o )

And 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die

I also got a pair of e-readers, they are glasses (just a low strength for eye strain) and are supposed to block blue light emitted from computers, tablets, etc.

A few days ago, I got my first graphic novels, Joe Sacco's The War in Eastern Bosnia 1992- 1995 and Pyongyang: A Journey to North Korea by Guy Delisle.

In Kindle books, I have also received all my books TBR in January, Jodi Picoult's The Pact and Cynthia Swanson's The Bookseller and Hunger by Michael Grant (from Gaia!).

Oh yes!  I used to read them as a kid, over and over and over... lol They are one of the books I remember reading all by myself and being my favorite.  I've been eyeing the single volume collection that I used to have as a child, my dog as a puppy ATE them :banghead:  and I was saving then for my daughter (when I had one  ).  Have you read them?

What a naughty puppy, Anna!  Oh my gosh!  I read them so many times when I was younger as well, and re-read them all a couple of years ago after I visited one of the Ingalls' homestead in DeSmet, South Dakota.  Also, whenever we take a day trip down to southern MN and into WI we also always stop at the site of the 'Little House in the Big Woods.'  I love those stories so! :D
