Come on, share which books Santa brought for you this year!

I got quite a bumper crop this year - I'm chuffed to ribbons:

  • Stuart MacBride - The 45% Hangover (Logan and Steel #2)
  • Stuart MacBride - 22 Dead Little Bodies (Logan and Steel #3)
  • Simon Scarrow - The Fields of Death (Napoleonic Wars #4) (I have the first 3 already)
  • Richard Castle - Raging Heat (Nikki Heat #6)
  • Richard Castle - Driving Heat (Nikki Heat #7)
  • Terry Pratchett - The Shepherd's Crown (Tiffany Aching #5) (The last Discworld novel ever! *sob*)
  • Philippa Gregory - The Taming of the Queen (Tudor Court #4)
  • Philippa Gregory - The King's Curse (Cousins' War #6)
  • A low fat recipe book (I've lost 54lbs this year and have another 36lbs to go till I hit target)

According to Dale, two prezzies of mine didn't arrive on time, so I'm assuming I'll have another two books to add to my list very soon too!

I'd never heard of it either, but my OH came up trumps with it!  It's also got a dust cover that you can remove and it's a poster which looks fantastic.  I'm going to smooth it out and get it framed, so I'll take a picture of it when it's done.

I got two!

Big Daughter hunted in charity shops in London and Windsor  for the Victorian  and unusual for me. I am always happy when my kids find something for me that they they know I will like, for far less money than it what it should be.

This year she came up with an awesome find...a hardback doorstop titled The London Encyclopaedia.  The cover price should be £50 but she got it for £8! She also found me a hardback book of Victorian Ghost stories

Some good book gifts for everybody, happy reading everyone!

My eldest son got me 'Confess' by Colleen Hoover, he's a good boy as he knew to check my Amazon wish list.

My brother also consulted my wish list and got me -
Blackout - Connie Willis
Our Endless Numbered Days - Claire Fuller
Dogs, their fossil relatives & evolutionary history - Wang and Tedford
World War I, the Dorling Kindersley definitive visual guide.

Happy days! :)

The Pact is really good, I hope you will enjoy it :smile2: Looking forward to your thoughts on it!

I got a book voucher (okay it was a Bday present and so not exactly a Christmas present... But it was only one week ago!), and then I got the following in the mail today:

Murder Most Unladylike by Robin Stevens  and

A Boy Called Christmas by Matt Haig.

Both are from poppyshake ( :flowers2: ) both seem like great reads and both have absolutely gorgeous covers! Very happy, me!

I wasn't expecting to receive much in the way of books, but I ended up with quite a haul!

The cookbook and colouring books were from my Mum, the Matt Haig and David Mitchell books were from Kay (thank you so much!) and the rest were from my partner. I'm very, very happy. :)

I got four more hardback editions for my Terry Pratchett collection.  Eric, Small Gods, Pyramids and Interesting Times.  They are absolutely gorgeous and will make a welcome addition to my growing Pratchett shelf.

I also got the new Martina Cole book, Get Even.  So a very happy bookworm here :D

Definitely a great gift for a book lover.  I keep hoping for an amazon or barnes and noble gift card for Christmas or birthday, but have never received one.

My hubby got me these that were on my wishlist:

The Brontes at Haworth by Ann Dinsdale (nonfiction)

The Long Fire by Meghan Tifft

My Friend Dahmer by Derf Backderf (graphic novel)

The Time of the Ghost by Diana Wynne Jones

Lost Lake by Sarah Addison Allen

And I accidentally bought a Kindle book for myself....in my sleep.  My daughter was sick and I was a bit sleep deprived and was scrolling through the amazon Kindle book deals on my iphone.  I kept falling asleep and jerking awake and apparently clicked on the book and the "buy with 1 click" button.  The book I was surprised to see on my new Kindle the next morning was The Unleashing by Shelly Laurenston.

51WC7xvj0ML._AA160_.jpgLooks interesting.  My first sleep shopping! :sleeping-smiley-009

Dale has informed me (because I forced him to), that one of my yet-to-arrive gifts is Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs (yay!). I have also ordered (with a little of my Xmas money) three more books:

  • Ben Elton - Time and Time Again
  • Richard Castle - Wild Storm (Derrick Storm #5)
  • Stuart MacBride - The Missing and the Dead (Logan McRae #9) - pre-ordered

I have set myself the challenge of not buying any books for myself in 2016, so I had to make sure I ordered them before New Year (cheeky, I know!). Books received as gifts, gained in swaps/for free, or borrowed from the library/friends/family are allowed, just not spending money on them for myself. This is because I now have loads of unread books on my shelves, just waiting for me to pick them up and crack open the covers. I'm also doing the Carole Matthews Challenge, reading all the books she has published (30 od them in total), but I shall be borrowing those from the library. I should be kept very busy with all those! ;)
