What's Up in December 2015?

Wow, December already! That crept up on us.. what is going on in your life this December? For festive specific discussions please use the Winter Holidays forum.

My sister is coming for lunch today. We have made homemade tomato soup and we also bought a quiche. I look forward to see my sister and talk with her, we haven't seen her in a little while.

I got stuff from Hot Topic and ThinkGeek. Absolutely extortionate shipping - flat rate of $40 from Hot Topic. I just bought a load of stuff I wanted and overspent to get the most out of the flat rate. Back in the good ole days, that would have been about €28, but now it's about €38. Useless exchange rate at the moment.

I totally agree, it sucks! The euro is quite low whereas the dollar and pound are so high. I love ThinkGeek's stuff, but due to the cost of shipping + import taxes I can't order much from them without it costing so much. My Kindle ebooks have become more expensive since the euro is so low, as has the things I order from Amazon UK.

I hope you (& other people) enjoy your stuff :)!

Haha random quote from me with no context

This evening I'm going on a Ferris Wheel! Weather permitting, and it's not permitting at the moment but we'll see. And Jimmy Carr is on Saturday, so lots to look forward to!

Happy December!!

Just picked up  my new progressive glasses and boy do they feel weird!! I'm so glad to have them as I've been getting so tired of dealing with the contacts every day. No more picking at my eyes and keeping up with reading glasses! Its been almost 2 years since I've last worn specs. Can't believe I let it go that long!

I hope your new glasses work well for you :).

Yesterday I had a meeting about my treatment plan. In driving there, I came across a bunch of people who weren't looking where they were going or if anyone else was in their way, terrible if this is the state of traffic nowadays. They were all on their phones while driving or cycling (the cyclist was on her phone and wearing headphones at the same time). I was gladly able to avoid crashing in to them by pressing hard on the brakes. How ridiculous! There was also a police car behind me at one point, that always makes me nervous. I was worried they were after me for going through an orange light (which is totally allowed, but if you can stop you should). I was worried they'd say it was red, even though it was definitely orange. Yep, the whole ride was.. nervewrecking.

The meeting itself was allright, but at the start I was angry because one person said the other person wasn't present today. And last year, during this same meeting (it's a yearly thing), no one but one person even bothered to show up. I was glad though that it turned out the other person was there and she joined us 15 mins later. It was sort of a miscommunication between them. But this sort of changes cost me a lot of energy, and the first 20 mins of the meeting were a bit lost on me. I had trouble concentrating. Anyway, the meeting was allright. I was glad to be back home.

Yikes, that sounds stressful Gaia :(

The Coca-Cola Christmas truck is touring around Ireland (I think for the first time ever, it's done the UK for a while now) - and today it's in Cork! I've nobody to go with coz nobody is interested so I suppose I'll have to go by myself and take a selfie rather than a proper picture

I thought you weren't supposed to talk on a phone while on a bike?

Should I even ask what the Coca-Cola Christmas truck is??  :grinhat:

Today, I bought a slew of presents from Amazon, they should start arriving on Monday.  We also bought wrapping paper, pretty ones with Santa's on them and a red one with Candy Canes.  My daughter is getting an IPad Mini for her big present from Santa (they use them in school), but I am going to wrap it in a huge box  :giggle2:  One more present and we are done!  :guess:

We don't have a truck like that, though I do recognise the ad, I've seen that before.

You're not!! They could be fined for it I think.

I hope your daughter will enjoy her presents :).

My brother and his girlfriend will come over for dinner tonight (so it'll be them, my parents and us). I'm looking forward to see them again. Yesterday we went out about bought gifts for my brother's girlfriend because she has her birthday soon. I'm also looking forward to the food, we're having a special dinner in honour of Sinterklaas (which we don't really celebrate otherwise, but my mum wanted to do a nice dinner). So we're having 'gourmet', my favourite dinner (different kinds of meat on a hot plate, kind of thing).

That sounds delicious Gaia! Enjoy!

Tonight I'm going to see Jimmy Carr, never seen him before but I've always liked him. It's my friend's birthday so a few of us are going. Ireland is currently submerged as a result of a storm though, so getting into town without blowing over to England will be interesting.

Thanks, it was :)! And great company too, it was really nice to talk with my brother and his girlfriend. We hadn't seen each other in a little while.

I wish you lots of fun seeing Jimmy Carr tonight :). I hope the storm won't be so bad :hide:.

I saw that on BBC last night :o

I hope your daughter will enjoy her presents :).

Oh, I am sure she will :grinhat: I almost broke down and gave her the new computer today after mine wouldn't work, but quickly came to my senses   :D

I think we are decorating our Christmas tree today, although we need batteries for the small strings of lights, we are putting up a very small tree this year, my daughter picked it out along with a new stocking for the fireplace- all in PINK!  I guess its a pink Christmas around here this year...

I heard about the flooding in the UK, is anyone here affected :(?

Good luck on your exam, Sabry! :D :D

I'm glad you had a nice dinner with your family, Athena!  That's a much more pleasant thing to see than bad drivers that stress people out and don't pay attention.  It's exhausting to be a good defensive driver these days when more and more people are using their phones when driving :(

I hope you had fun seeing Jimmy Carr, Noll!  Is he a singer?

My weekend flew by, as per usual.  I had dance class Friday and ran an obscene amount of errands on Saturday.  I ended the day with a stop at my favorite Lebanese deli so that made it all worth it.  Yesterday I hung lights and garland on our deck/terrace outside and also cooked up a couple meals to have throughout the week.

This week is work, the gym, and on Thursday we're having our annual work holiday party.  Apparently it's 'casino' themed so I need to brush up on my blackjack skills

I hope everyone has a lovely week!

Thank you all of you!!

Today we decorated the flat with the Christmas decorations!!! How beautiful!!! I'm looking forward Christmas this year, specially for my presents, I ask for the Harry Pottter Illustrated book and I want to have it right now jajajaja.

This week I'm not doing exercise and I'm feel bad about it but it's raining and I don't want to go running because if I catch the flu it will be awful for my Exam!!

Peacefield enjoy the party!

We took our dog Pamuk to the vet this morning. She has been very afraid of him but today she did quite well! She was still afraid but a bit less so than the last few times, so I was really proud of her.

I hope everything went well at the vet Athena. So apparently my partner had something up his sleeve this weekend, because I am officially engaged. He proposed this afternoon after the cruise. The ring is amazing, a little small so taking it to get resized next weekend.

Congratulations on your engagement!!!! :party::balloons:

Everything went well at the vet, I was surprised Pamuk did so well :). She didn't seem as afraid as the last few times. I went to a certain supermarket to get special Christmas chocolates. My family has been eating them for Christmas as long as I can remember. I was so disappointed I didn't see them in the shop, but in the end I managed to find them in a hidden corner :grinhat:. That made me happy.

This morning I freaked out because I was being very forgetful. And then I find it stupid of myself that I get annoyed at what is probably little things for other people. Sometimes I just really don't like my ADD.
