frankie
What is your book activity today? Spill the beans I'm still reading Tinseltown: Murder, Morphine, and Madness at the Dawn of Hollywood by William J. Mann.
Signor Finzione
August?!?! I'm reading The Girl with all the Gifts by M.R. Carey. Really liking it so far.
Athena
August already ! I have just started on The Redemption of Althalus by David and Leigh Eddings. I liked this book . I haven't read many other books by the authors though so I don't know how it compared (they are on my shelves however ). I liked that one, though! I hope you enjoy it too. I may have to buy it again when the new SF Masterworks edition is published next year, just for the cover That is an awesome cover . I'm reading Jaclyn Moriarty - The Spell Book of Listen Taylor which so far isn't as good as the other three books I read by her. I'm not that far into it yet, only 64 pages out of 490 so it may get better yet. That's not to say it isn't enjoyable, I'm just not enjoying it as much as those other three books. Alexi
August?!?! My thoughts exactly! I'm about a third of the way through The Emperor's Children by Claire Messud. Not getting much reading time ATM and its a bit of an epic.
alicedrinkwater
I liked this book . I haven't read many other books by the authors though so I don't know how it compared (they are on my shelves however ). I liked that one, though! I hope you enjoy it too. I can tell you that most people that read David Eddings and like his work prefer The Belgariad and The Malleorian series. I didn't like them at all. But I did like The Elenium and The Tamuli series with Sparhawk and Aphrael, two very lovable characters. So far I am enjoying The Redemption of Althalus. Typical Eddings. Light, fun, and engaging. Fruska
Hi to everyone. I've been away from this site for a long time. I have recently got my reading mojo back and have been lurking on here to keep my motivation up. I get so many ideas on here to add to my TBR, (which doesn't really need adding to!). I'm currently three quarters of the way through The Supernatural Enhancements. Still not quite sure what to make of it. Has anybody else read it? Raven
I started reading my first ever Agatha Christie novel on Saturday (Sad Cyprus). With the exception of Poirot, all the men are jolly useless.
alicedrinkwater
That's good to know. It's a shame you didn't like those series, I'm glad though you enjoyed The Elenium and The Tamuli series, and that you're enjoying The Redemption of Althalus so far . I'm halfway through it and still enjoying it, although sometimes my eyes glaze over when an author goes into detail about battle tactics. I guess war is really not my thing. chesilbeach
I finished The Awakening of Miss Prim this evening. Haven't made up my mind about it yet … I did love reading it, but as I ponder it, I'm not sure about the message of it. I'll mull it over for a while … Not sure what I'll read next, maybe Darkmere by Helen Maslin
alicedrinkwater
I finished The Art of Racing in the Rain at work this morning and now I have nothing else to read. I must admit, that book had me blubbering like an idiot in the last chapter, and while I love all animals, I'm not specifically a dog lover.
