Firstly a YA Christian novel called 18 Things (My So Called Afterlife) by Jamie Ayres, then it was a Dan Brown'esque biblical/religious/modern & historical thriller called The Psalter by Galen Watson. I rounded off my weekend by finishing the Rachel Caine Ill Wind, the first book in her Weather Warden series. I started the second of her WW series, Heat Stroke. Thinking of picking that up soon as I loved her Darkest Part Of The Forest. Hope Coldtown picks up I just finished Uprooted by Naomi Novik. Apart from one or two irksome things, it was a beautifully written, creative and immersive story. Full review to follow. At the moment, working my way through Rise Of The Lich King, the poorly-written World of Warcraft book I read many years ago Not sure what will be up after that, but maybe a re-read of Paper Towns, as I just bought a gorgeous new black hardback edition of it. I also bought a copy of Dante & Aristotle Discover The Universe, as I really liked that when I read it (ebook) and it was fairly cheap. Great book! Tee hee hee I'm reading Sleepless by Lou Morgan now, a recommendation from Michelle. Got it for cheapsies on my Kindle and it's EXACTLY what I was looking for. It's actually reading kind of like a Creepypasta, if anyone here knows what that means. (Internet horror story site.) Really enjoying it, though I've seen reviews knock the ending soooo we'll see! Nollaig Posted June 2, 2015 Share Posted June 2, 2015 Finished Sleepless yesterday (yep, read it in a day!) It was very very good, I'll review it maybe on my lunchbreak or after work. Started another from that Red Eye horror series, Frozen Charlotte, and.... it's not my thing, but I'm still enjoying it. Which is weird. It's got enough horror tropes presented in creative enough ways to keep my attention, and it's all very strange. Looking forward to seeing how it ends, because as with Sleepless, people took issue with the ending. I'll probably have that finished tonight, no idea what next! We are meandering between three different characters, but other than eat a lot and sigh about things I'm not entirely sure what the point is and where we are going.... I'm going to give it another 100 pages and see how we are, especially given it's on the 1001 list and the Teacher's top 100 list, there must be SOMETHING about it?! How far are you into it? I didn't get on with it either - I read it 8 years ago for my book group, and although I finished it, I only did it for the discussion. Definitely not sounding like a winner. I had actually taken it off my shelves because I had given up on ever getting around to reading it, but then I needed a book for a couple of minutes (*cough* bathroom reading *cough*), and it was the nearest thing to hand, so I grabbed it. chaliepud Posted June 3, 2015 Share Posted June 3, 2015 I finished The Coldest Girl in Coldtown, not that impressed, very formulaic for the genre, teen paranormal, very predictable so a degree of skim reading was employed toward the end of the book. Nicely written though so toying with 2/5 or 3/5. I think I will give the Book Box a miss for my next book as my mojo is feeling a little jaded and needs perking up! I am reading Death by Request by Jaden Skye this is book 11, I love these as they are so easy to read and it is on my phone so can ready it in bed. Also A Song for Julia by Charles Sheenan Miles this is ok but it is not grabbing me, I will continue as I don't give up on books. Torvill and Dean My Life on Ice which as this is an Autobiography I only ready a section at a time.
