I hope you enjoy them all :D. I don't own Mr Mercedes, yet, but I think the library might have a Dutch copy, if it's been translated (but with King being so famous, it's bound to happen if it hasn't already).

I hope The Paying Guests will be great, I borrowed it earlier this year from the library but didn't have the time to read it. Have you read any other books by Waters before, I forget? Looking forward to your thoughts on it when you get to it! :smile2:

I read The Little Stranger about 4 years ago and was one of the first books I blogged about. I really enjoyed it and found Waters writing style highly engaging. I did stat Fingersmith a couple of years ago  but never really got into it and gave up on it. That was more a reflection of my reading at the time than the book though and I will read it one day.

I love it that TLS has such a particular place in your reading history, being one of the first books you blogged about :smile2: I haven't read it myself but I have a feeling I'll love anything that Waters has written and will write. I loved Fingersmith. Good luck with that novel on the second go, I hope your mojo takes to it better the second time around! :smile2:

I managed to have a really great reading session yesterday and read the vast majority of 'The Bees' in a couple of sittings. Tiredness finally got the better of me before I could finish but I was up early this morning to finish off the final 30 pages. I really enjoyed the book and found it fascinating to learn about the life in the hive. Whilst I am sure a lot of artistic licence has been used by Paull it really makes it an interesting place to read about. I also enjoyed the main storyline, which is that of a thriller. I would definetely recommend this book to others.

On Sunday I picked up 'The Versions of Us' from the library. It is a fastback and so I only have until this Sunday to read it. I am almost half-way through and have found it an excellent read so far. At first it was a little tricky to remember what had happened so far in each of the three versions as we returned to it but I have managed to get my head around it now. I need to press on and hopefully get this finished before the return deadline.

I'm hovering over the 'buy now' button for the Kindle version of that to take on my holiday...! Should I?!

Well I have almost finished it and have really enjoyed it. Not sure I would pay a hardback price for it though. Would definitely recommend if it was paperback prices.

I didn't manage to finish 'The Versions of Us' by my Sunday deadline. Fortunately, when I returned the book there was another copy just sitting there waiting for me to take it out. I finished the book last night and have to say I really enjoyed it. I will admit that I did have to keep reminding myself what had already happened in each of the three versions as we returned to each but on the whole managed to stay on track. I did think maybe I should have kept a few notes on who was married to who in each version. I admit I did give up on trying to remember grandchildren's names from each version near the end. All in all though a really good book that I enjoyed thoroughly and would recommend as a good read by an exciting new author.

I made a start on "The Good Luck of Right Now' earlier in the week and I am now into the final hundred pages. It's quite an engaging read and I am farily racing through it. This is the third book I have read by Matthew Quick and all have a strong focus on mental illness in one form or another and are told from the persepective of the character that has this illness. I think this makes them interesting to read and I wonder where all his experiecne in this area come from.

In what has been a very prodcutive reading day I have managed to finish two, yes that's right two!! books.

The first was an audiobook I have been listening to for a while. It is the first in the Detective Peter Grant novels by Ben Aarontovich and was a great book and a great narration. The book follows a division in the MET that specialises in magic. I really enjoyed it and will hopefully pick up others in the series in due course.

The second was my library loan 'The Good Luck of Right Now' by Matthew Quick. Famed for his book and resulting screen adaptation of The Silver Linings Playbook, Quick is again on familiar territory of explaning how people that society would class as different see the world from their own perspective. It was a fairly enjoyable read but in my opinion not a patch on the aforementioned novel.

I am now choosng what to start next. I have some real time availbable for reading over the next week and I intend to make the most of it with my mojo also being present and correct.

I've got The Silver Linings Playbook on my shelf, it's a shame The Good Luck of Right Now wasn't as good (though I'm glad it was still good). Well done on you for finishing two books in one day! I hope your next read will be good :).

I am currently away enjoying a short break but managed to finish Mr Mercedes by Stephen King at the start of the holiday. I found it a very interesting and well written thriller and will certainly be seeking out the next book in this new series by King when it is released in paperback.

As a teenager I read a lot of King, my gran used to take me to a market stall that sold second hand books every Saturday and allow me to purchase one which I would then have finished by the end of the weekend. This book reminded me what a great writer he is.

I managed to finish 'The Psychopath Test' by Jon Ronson yesterday. I am a big fan of his recent work and spotted this, one of his earlier boks, in the library adn couldn't resist. It really opened my eyes to a lot of things with regards to mental illnsses, not just psychopaths. A really well researched and enjoyable read.

A spot of holiday reading has seen me finish the second book in the Detective Peter Grant series by Ben Aaronovitch. Moon over Soho was an enjoyable read but I found the ending slightly disappointing, I will continue with the series and have ordered the next in the series from the library.

I have finished 'The Men Who Stare at Goats' by Jon Ronson this morning. Whilst interesting in parts it is my least favourite of his works that I have read and I have managed to read most of them now. It didn't quite read as well as his other works for me and unusually for his writing I found it tricky to follow in places.

So a few months have passed without posting. In that time I have managed to read the third and fourth book in the Ben Aaronovitch series of books about the division of the MET that deals with magic. The series is getting stronger and stronger in my opinion and I have the next book ready to go on my kindle.

I finished Fat Chance by Nick Spalding today. This was a really quick and easy read but was fairly amusing in Spalding's standard sort of embarrassing stories kind of way.

Hopefully I can squeeze one more book in before the end of the year.

I totally agree about the series getting stronger as it goes on. I've read book 5 as well now, and I loved where he went with the story. Just a shame we have to wait until next summer before book 6 is out! :D

So my book blog for this year finishes with 21 books read. A pretty average number and one I am neither pleased or displeased about. My two stand out reads of the year have been The Rosie Project by Graham Simsion and The Book Thief by Markus Zusack.

Anyway onto 2016.
